Thread: Practice Mode?
I've been away from SWG for about three days now (had to hit GenCon this year), and I've seen people talking about "practice" crafting. Was this an update that happened just recently? And what is it, exactly? My guess would be that it's a way to craft something and get the XP for it, but without actually making anything.
On the last step of crafting, there is a checkbox in the lower left. If it's checked you practice, consuming the resources used, but not creating the item, with a 5% bonus to exp, because you don't have anything to sell.

Practice mode doesn't actually produce an item. It gives you a little bonus exp (5%, IIRC). If you're just making stuff you're going to destroy anyway, use practice mode.

The main advantage is when you're grinding something out; a good example for a scout would be camps and traps while sitting in a camp to augment your Wilderness XP. You're not going to use all those camps, anyway, right?
In the pure crafting professions, this is really a must, when you've got to generate 27,500 med crafting XP to get that last combat med crafting box, and the only practical way of doing this in a non-long period of time is to crank out advanced biological effect controllers like mad.
Julak,
When you're crafting, at the final screen, there is a little box down in the left hand corner that says "create item in practice mode". Just click the box, and you'll make it in practice mode.
You only have to click it one - all the subsequent items that you make will be in practice mode until you unclick the box.
