Thread: worth it?

Ok, right now I'm a Pistoleer/Creature Handler (I planned it BEFORE the exploits went out of hand, and I don't use Rancors )

I noticed that I have enough skill points left over to get to Novice TKA. Just wondering if it would be worthwhile to get it?

Thanks.

No, not anymore. Stick with your current professions.

Novice isn't worth it. Master is definately worth it.

I think you should finish off scout and get lv3 wayfaring in ranger.

If you're going for Novice anything, it should be Fencer. It will give you a dodge skill boost to complement the dodge skills in your pistoleer line. Plus you'll be able to use your best weapon right away, whereas a Teras Kasi Master's true strength comes from his speed.

Pikeman is also a good choice since a Vibro Lance at even novice skill level can do some awesome damage to finish off an opponent when he finally gets in range.

Eeek...anyway, Fencer's probably the best choice since they have health-targeted attcks just like Pistoleer.

Ok I am a new weaponsmith, after reading all these recent posts I see I have made a mistake. I now can make a pistol, and a grenade. With a mountain of exp exceeding 900,000 and only recieving 35 exp per weak little pistol I will be bored with this game before I advance. I can see that the devs want you to pay and pay and pay and spend hundreds of hours making literal CRAP. How is this interesting? I started out in this game thinking I wanted to build weapons for people, but I see that is a dream that is going to take years. I do not have the addiction to video games that some people have It seems if I DONT play my miners run out of power or money and progress stops. I also do not have someexploiting master weaponsmith (that got in before they made it how they wanted this profession to be). Making me some uber schematic that I keep hearing about. I see these huge harvestors that steal resources out from under mine and I cant seem to get ahead. Im sure am glad there are so many people that exploited the exp early and have all this stuff. It makes new players so abundant, NOT! I know the game needs weapon makers, but why should I run miner to miner filling power and money, and neglect my family and friendsspending hours making stuff that the market is flooded with. What a waste of a good idea this game was. I may try again if I hear they fix this. But as for now, I dont see a renewal coming here.

I know where you are coming from, but perhaps these type of games are not for you?

I am not flaming or anything of the like... but these games are meant to take up a huge portion of your time in oder to accomplish anything worthwhile. They are called "Time-sinks", and while there isn't anyone that enjoys doing them, most players are accustomed to them.

I too wanted to be a weaponsmith.. in fact I hit Novice Weaponsmith the other day. After taking a hard look at the amount of XP and the items I would be able to make at each skill compounded by the Factory XP change I decided I would not continue with the weaponsmith profession.

I simply do not have the patience for that type of timesink anymore. I suspect many will not, which will make weaponsmiths rarer and fall in line with whatever SOE has envisioned for this type of class.

I play to have fun, as should everyone. I care nothing for pseudo-accomplishments of an in-game character, or at least not enough to do something that I do not enjoy in order to attain them. You don't want to jump through the hoops that the designers want you to jump through in order to become a Master Weaponsmith.. or lets be honest, a weaponsmith with marketable wares, and neither do I.

So don't... do something that you enjoy in the game (it is a game afterall). You may find, as others do, that this is not the game you wanted/hoped it would be and leave it at that. Just don't beat yourself up over what the game "should" be like, and take it for what it is: A game designed to keep you playing for many months/years, and not by entertainment, but by dangling a proverbial carrot that you can 'almost" reach.

My 2credits anyway.

I have the same question and I made it to Firearms 1 already; even though I've made it this far their trend to nerf hard, harder and then club it in the head - its making me wonder why in hells earth dont i just play a Combat class and run 3 missions to buy some nice weapon from a poor bas*ard weaponsmith???

I haven't seen many pikemen in action, so i dunno how good you guys are.

Currently Im master ch, master medic, and have 2/4/0/2 in the carbineer tree.

I was thinking about dropping carbineer and going pikeman. Anyone think its worth it?
