Thread: Powerups are randomly made??
The stat numbers aren't really random they are based on the resource quality, if you use 990 oq mineral and 990 oq chemical and you max out experimentation as Master with great successes, you should get the same end result.
The type of power-up as is random based on a subset of stats that have been bound to a particular schematic, i.e. you wouldn't be able to create a certain combo, lets say a max/min damage power-up with using the 'scope' schematic since this schematic doesn't have both max and min damage attributes. So no matter how much you try with this one, you wouldn't get a max/min power-up. There is a list somewhere (slightly out of date but it gives you a gist, at Allakhazams) that lists most of the sets. For instance, you would craft a muzzle to attempt to get the max/min combo.
To answer your question, yes he will have to craft the correct schematic until the combo you want pops up. Using decent resources, 2 stat power-ups pop up frequently and it shouldn't take too many attempts to get the combo you need.
Hope this makes sense.
There is nothing random about it. It is said to be random, but you will quickly find that useless or unmarketable combinations are much more common that combinations that are in demand. So, the probability tables have been skewed to make prized types less likely to come up. Thus, prized combos of types are even less likely to come up. This creates a time/resource sink and also means that you have to be at least a little bit dedicated to come up with the types of schematics that will really sell.
Don't believe me? Craft twenty muzzles... how many of them had wound chance as primary, and how many had max damage? Has anyone ever come to you and askedfor an uber wound chance powerup? Now, factor the probability of getting a lame secondary into the mix too. I am convinced that powerup attributes are assigned intrinsic values based on desirability, and that probablity of getting themis related to this value.
It is definitely not random... the statistics show that quite clearly.
I would really like to see the logic behind the powerup crafting process... but I don't think I'd be very happy with what I saw.
What galaxy are you in? I mean that in a polite way of course. The results you allude to are not even close to what I've experienced. I'd like to see a link to your statistics too.

I think you give the devs too much creditYour theory would mean that they thought about this. Don't forget that they didn't start introducing more and more money sinks until they knew the economy was borked, and power-ups have been like this since launch afaik.

What statistics?
As far as max/min damage power-ups are concerned or some other combo, you don't need to slave away for hours or whatever to get what you want (provided it exists), I'm hardly dedicated, I mean standing at a crafting station for 10 minutes isn't what I'd call dedicated, and manage to keep my vendor stocked.
I'd love to see some statistics out of curiosity to shed some light on the matter. If you can point me to a link, Im sure this would be educational to our fellow Artisans.
Fair enough. I really don't need to craft more ranged powerups right now, but I'll try to crank out a number of them this weekend and document. I do need to make some melee ones, and I'll do the same there.
