Thread: Does anyone think there's just too much spawn now?

Ispend a lot of time collectingresources, and I have no longer have any combat skills. I tried to plant a bunch of harvesters yesterday and kept having to drive away to draw off attackers. I'd choose a resource under fire, then drive away before I got killed. Then I'd add an administrator, then drive away before I got killed. Then I'd pay maintenance, then drive away before I got killed. (Yes, I know I can use a macro to make this go a little quicker, but that's not at issue here.) And this was out in the boonies on Naboo, so it's not like I'm standing in the middle of a high-spawn location on Dathomir.

It seems clear to me that those who decided to put an insane amount of spawn everywhere had combat classes in mind without paying much attention to how this might affect non-combatants. I shouldn't have to get a buff to manage harvesters. Rare is the dairy farmer or coal miner that has to worry about being set upon by gangs of thugs and giant beasties.

(There's also a certain lack of logic to the spawn rules. Wouldn't a squad of stormtroopers attack a mauler camp? Wouldn't a big nasty red con kitty attack an NPC? But that's a discussion for another forum. I guess.)

Does anyone else have a perspective on this?

It's a gift for those grinding combat. Think of it as message that says "Grind now, because after the CU we nerf you so hard you'll think you've actually become a sponge football."

Fine, if people want to grind combat, let there be a place for that. I don't see why the entire game has to be flooded with spawns, affecting everyone, so that those who want to grind can. I wouldn't ask that there be no spawns anywhere so that it's easier for artisans so survey, would I? Well, if we don't want to go to one extreme, why should we go to the other?

Master Chef, master merchant, and master artisan here and yes, it's challenging to find places to safely put down harvesters (or even check them later), but I really view that as making sense. Honestly, a completely crafting template shouldn't be out exploring by themselves without some hired help (it's a dangerous world out there...at least now). It's easy enoughto wear armor, get buffed, etc. to protect yourself while going out to check harvesters, but to clear out lairs and wild spawns...that's what fighters are for.

Solution? There are always newer players that are moving up the ranks of marksman, brawler, scout, etc. Why not take this as a chance to recruit people for a clearing out mission? Think of it as a more personalized version of the mission terminal, but you're the person hiring the combatant(s). You probably don't have to pay that much for this type/level of help to be competitive with the missions terminal payouts and anyone that is focused on crafting should have a few extra creds laying around that can be spent on hired help. If you're trying to place stuff on a harder world, then of course you'll have to hire better help.

One last thing --you might just attract a new customer or friend through this type of interaction as well.

I agree, insane spawn numbers changes the game from an adventure to an arcade. The only people this helps are those who want instant spawns, to grind faster, to have instant gratification when they max out their character. See, I'm more of the 'enjoy the journey' sort of person. I liked it when you could 'hunt' animals as a Ranger, or as an artisan bump into different animals here and there. Hunting or exploring are out, because now you can't move a few meters without hitting spawns, which is silly.

If it's also true that rare spawn are increasing in number, that takes the fun away from people who have spent lots of time tracking down rare animals for pets. If you spend a few weeks trying to find a Bull Rancor baby, and now all of a sudden anyone can find one, it makes it less of an accomplishment.

I guess what I am trying to say, is that I don't like the mentality of everyone being able to get what they want instantly. If it's not worth working for, it's not worth having.

I have the same problem and it's bloody annoying.

I usually give my alt, a TKM, admin access then get him to come back later and deposit the required amounts of cash/power. Sometimes I'll be lucky and there'll be no mobs in the area, then I do my job, but it's extremely annoying when a lair of Crazed Durni appear as I put my harvesters down.

I avoid Dath and Dant completely for harvesting, everything's hostile.

I can certainly see getting friends to help when placing harvesters. But during surveying they would just be following me while I drove around. And I like to place the harvesters as soon as I find the right spot. So finding a spot, then finding a group, then going back is more than I want to deal with. Does anyone have any good ideas for getting around that?

When I send my MC/MArt/merch-working-on-Armorsmith alt to Endor it's a fun challenge to try to avoid the red and plant a harv. But I do tend to shout obscenities over TeamSpeak when I get ganked on my home planet by pirates while checking a factory run.

I was still able to travel from Bestine to the Krayt Graveyard, running and only ran into 3 spawns...2 rill and a bantha spawn. I saw more 20 ST, 2 super ST spawns than I saw normal killable spawns.
