Thread: Am I selling +13.26 Crafting tools too cheap?

I made some +13.26 Crafting tools (various types) yesterday and put them on the Bazaar for 1000 creds each, three had sold to different people before I had finished putting the rest on!

Now the question is am I selling them too cheap? I don't want to price gouge as I have a good name and want to keep it that way but if i'm selling way below market value am I hurting other Artisans?

I use the best resources I can find and experiment on them, discarding anything that doesn't reach 13.26 (which seems to be the max as I can't experiment any higher even though I have points left).

Opinions please (but hold the flames)

1k is about right. My guess is those were chem tools you sold. You'll find those sell very well as docs cant make their own. The other professions either make their own or don't care. BTW get a factory and do a run. 25 per crate is a great size for the bazaar and will save you resources in the end. Make sure you put the rating in the name and people will pick them up. The rating may not make as much sense as saying 99%, so that could work well.

for your sake start increasing prices just a bit... maybe 100c at a time. You don't want to flood your own market.

Try this: offer a full line of items, one at 2k, 1900, 1800... etc all the way down to your current price. See where people stop buying and price just under that.

What componets make the best weapon, driod, and general crafting tools? I use a good conductive copper and only get about 10.5?

I ahve two batches of copper I use. Onne with a con of 985 (14.55 tools)and the other with a con of 937. (13.44 tools)

I found the secret to selling through the bizarre, for me, was to increase prices until my units move at a rate that is acceptable to me. 1000, for me is WAY TOO low. 3K is a bit high. I like to move 10-15 a day. ALong with doird sales, I ahve more than enough walk around cash. I am finding that 2200-2500 is an acceptable price. But, this doesnt apply for all items. Structure crafting tools, for example, I cant GIVE AWAY 14.55s. generics, food and chems, and w/d/gi do very well at the range I specified above.

ANother thing, while we are here, is that I found the need to be very flexible. WHen the market gets ahmmered I drop prices and blow through things or buy out my competitions supply if I stand to make more on what I am selling vs what they are selling. Most ppl come and go ojn the bizarre and I ahve foiund it a steady and consistent generator of cash. FAR better then any missions . . .

does crafting tools every decay? from my experience, they don't. So so many people still buy the chem tools?

I make 13.98 tools and when I sell them, it ussually goes for 750c each depending on the market I've tried selling them for 1k and sold a few but nothing big. I guess it depends on the server, I survey and get my own resources so I dont loose that much really.

Thanks for the advice guys.

In return here's how to get the max results. Resources! I use copper with conductivity in the 950's or better, this is step one and the one that most seem to stop at. Step two for those that want the best results, Overall Quality has to be over 950 also. In fact if you can get better conductivty/Overall Quality you will probably go over the 13.56 that i've been getting.

If the OQ is too low you won't get to experiment all your points. I tried this with some 500ish OQ petrochem and it seems to hold true.

Yeah I made some tools with 13.98 ratings last night using high conductivity copper, the overall was only 700, so i guess I just need higher end resources.

on shadowfire, i can make 14.97 tools! they don't get better than that! i charge 1200 credits each, and can go to coronet and sell 20 a night...i get alot of people tell me that they paid 500 for a 13.xx then i just tell them, well mine are still better and the price is 1200..after a 1/2 of trying to make me come down, they give in or have a friend buy it for them! so i think 1k is a great price...

I've found the only thing that matter is Con on effectiveness. It helps to be a master artisan when making these. Nice copper find btw.
