Thread: Powerup Exp from 40 per build to 20! secret nerf!

I begin making powerups today to get to engineering 4, and I notice that they are only giving 20 exp per build instead of 40 exp! I had quite a few people test this out. The same result, 20 exp. So its not just me. I suspect a secret nerf to stop grinding!

Can other people test this and please respond!

If this is true, its disappointing, but not unexpected. Most GCXP was yielding about 2 xp per unit of resource. Powerups were yeilding 4 xp per resource. Although I am disppoitned they stealthed this one by us, cutting the XP in halfseems appropriate.

All they did was add more grinding to the game. Now you have to make twice as many items and use twice as many resouces just to get to the same place before the nerf.

I'm trying to get to Engineering 4: 6,000 divided by 20 = 300 , so thats 300 muzzles

Each muzzle takes 6 metal and 4 chemicals, i use copper and fiberplast... 1800 copper and 1200 fiberplast just to advance one box in a basic profession skill tree. To me, it seems like alot to me...

I think there's some weird logic in there where if you keep making the same item over and over, you get less XP over time.

I've sat there and made an item I've never made before, and the first time I make one I get like 80xp, if I keep making it, eventually I'll only be getting 30xp each time. It's weird.

I'll verify this if I get a chance to play tonight.

I'd be all for that if your chance of failure and experimentation ability goes up to counter the lack of XP.

This is really disappointing to me. I need 19k xp to get my masters in artisan, and now how am I going to get there? I understand that becomming a master at anything should not be easy, but artisans can hardly craft anything worth selling that does not takes ages to craft in the first place. All we had were our powerups... well I for one have gone over to making fireworks instead. Whether they give a better xp per resource, I don't know. At this point I don't really care. I have stood for 24 hours, pumping out various things desperately trying to find something wortwhile and that's the best I could come up with.

This nerf is very cruel to any artisan who doesn't have friends to buy and use his stuff.

"...All they did was add more grinding to the game. Now you have to make twice as many items and use twice as many resouces just to get to the same place before the nerf...."

First of all, make sure you've tested all powerups. I noticed some of the earlier ones netted me 20 after I raised a rank. Double check stocks and muzzles.

"...I'm trying to get to Engineering 4: 6,000 divided by 20 = 300 , so thats 300 muzzles..."

I'm not sure what level you get heavy axe(it may be eng4) but that's a much better way to grind. 80xp IIRC and they take steel. metal and wood. It requires an extra click but it's 4 times the rate of muzzles now.

"...Each muzzle takes 6 metal and 4 chemicals, i use copper and fiberplast... 1800 copper and 1200 fiberplast just to advance one box in a basic profession skill tree. To me, it seems like alot to me......"

Yea, that used to sound like a lot to me until my harvesters really started cranking. You can make double that in a single day of harvesting. I have something on the order of 4k copper(and probably 15k total metals)and 10k fiberplast. I used heavy axes and powerups to grind the 28.8kxp for droid engineering before I mastered artisen.

It would of been nice if they at least said something about it, something like:

"Fixed: Artisans get to grind more than ever now! We removed the exploit that caused artisans to enjoy the game alittle more becuase they didn't have to spend hundreds of hours crafting the same thing over and over again to advance up one basic skill tree"

Heavy Axes are at engineering 4

I like powerups because they didn't use much resources and only 2 types.

I plan on being a droid engineer...hmmmmm

(Don't take anything below to seriously, I am bored, and I like numbers)

28,800 GCE needed to abtain novice Droid Engineer, Math time!

28,8000/20= 1440 muzzles!!! yay!!!!

once again: 8640 copper and 5760 fiberplast!!! On my server its 3k for 1000 copper and 3k for 750 fiberplast!

Time for more math fun!

8,640 divided by 1,000 = 8.64 x 3,000 = 25,920!

5,760 divided by 750 = 7.68 x 3,000 = 23,040!

so thats 48,960 credits that I'll have to earn to buy enough resources to become a novice droid engineer!

Thats not taking into account this bug: When you purchase something off the bazaar it sometimes will not let you reteive it...

Lets say that I only use 1 general crafting kit at a time to make stuff, so I make 20 exp about every 40 seconds...

so, thats 1440 muzzles at 40 seconds a peice for 20 exp each: 1440 x 40 = 57600 seconds so thats 960 hours!!! YAY!

(keep in mind that I could go alot faster than that, AND that I am not taking anything into consideration)

There are so many different ways you can do things to make it go faster. So DON'T take this too seriously, PLEASE!

Once again, I'm just bored because I'd rather sit here and make post like this instead of grinding in SWG...

Why muzzles anyway? Why not just make couplers and/or barrels. They give the same xp, costs the same, and only take 10 secs...

Muzzles are just an example, since they all give the same exp, and use the same resources why even bother saying "why muzzles" if you would used some common sense I wouldn't of had to respond to your post like this. As for the 10 second thing...It may take 10 second to click through the making process, but it takes like 30 seconds for the output hopper to empty

Keeper's point is that barrels and couplers are lower in complexity and takeless timeto process in the crafting station than muzzles. So there is less down time between hitting finish, and waiting for the prototype.

Have you guys not heard of Chemical Surveyors, or Crafting Kits? They give about 60 per combine each.

Also, you can have more than 1 crafting kit going at once...for example, I use 4 Weapon Crafting Kits for my weaponsmithing.

And I'd like to add that all items crafted give 2 XP per Resource. The fact that Powerups gave 40 was a bug...so, in essence you guys skilling up on Powerups were using an exploit. However, if you want those extra XP back, put your powerups into circulation, and you'll get the user XP for them.

Unfortunately, grinding is grinding, and you won't get anywhere in any of the crafting professions without some good grinding. Even while skilling Weaponsmithing to the level I'm at now, I used Gaderiffi Batons to skill up, and I sold maybe 10 out of the 10,000 I made.

Even the greatest Swordsmiths of ancient times had to make 10,000,000 Horseshoes before they were considered a decent Blacksmith.
