i think it would be cool if you could work at Icom or Aratech Repulsor Company or....(yeah the list could go on forever. i think it would be cool if people could be hired to work at different companies. if you worked at Icom or Corelian Engineering Corps. (spaceship producers) you would just make engines and components, until the space expansion comes out. but if you worked at Aratech Repulsor Company (producer of the speeder bike) you would make speeder bikes and speeder bike components.(if you worked at Sorosuub you would make X-34sthe scematics would be exclusive to the company that owns the rights to make the vehicle(no you would not be able to transfer rights). you would make speeders and components (you would only have access to the scematics when youare in a company building) and then you would hand them in to you boss and the company would sell the speeders at company stores(another neat addition)and you would get a weekly salary. Or you could take the speeders and sell them yourself, but after a while your boss would eventually find out and then, well... let's just say that the storm troopers won't be your best friends. i just think this idea would bring more star warsyness and new life to starting cities like Theed and(mostly) Cornet.

so what do you guys think?

Interesting...I like the idea but are you proposing a system that allows for a a completely player run corp., or are you suggesting this should be an in-game system?

hmmm... nother job in game? I already work 2 in RL dont think I want another lol. Though the concept is very cool. Kinda like missions for said company, building various parts for them to put into their ships and vehicles and such. I am just wondering if when the space expansion comes out if you will be able to make starships, or if you have to buy them from NPC's, course you would prolly have to be a master architect or something to build them.

Hey wait, a new elite profession comes to mind!! Spaceship Architects, sub branch off the architect profession!

Would love to see a vehicle jockey profession too, being able to make more than 3 kinds of speeders and such would be really cool. Modding vehicles, extreme paint jobs, vehicle performance. That sounds like a really awesome idea for a new profession!!!

HEY SOE, get a pad and write this down!!!

it wouldn't be totally player run, the high up positions in the companies would be held by NPCs. i just thought of another thing where Merchants could file for a retailer license and the only people that could sell the company's speeders would be the people who had a license.

not to bash you or anything but i dont like the idea. it would add some more star warsyness but it would screw the player economy. its really too later for this idea anyways sine MA's can make the vehicles. with Se i would hope i could got to whatever profession and buy whatever type of ship i wanted, instead of tracking down Joe Blow in the wilds of dathomir to make me a cargo ship.

i hope MA's get ships that would totally rock. or they should create a new profession. oh man i have some many wishes for SE...

Great concept, but rather then trying to get sony to put in licensing for product sales, just do it as a group.

Get some master craftsmen together and start a company, share factories and resources as needed so that your DE person is crafting the droid storage compartments and other items needed, while a designated master artisian is crafting Electronics GP modules, and control units, and a master architect using the items for making mastercraft crafting stations, everyone sharing the products and resources. Then we just need Master Architect to get a schematic for "Corporate Office" similar to the PA guildhall, but with a different look. Also, make it possible to be part of a PA and a corporation. Let PAs have the PVP aspect while the corporation is neutral ground, a place where overt members of opposing factions can NOT attack each other, and anyone can trade with anyone, ie overt rebel trading with overt imperial.

Possibly make it so that a corporate headquarters is like a city hall, requiring the CEO to authorize the building of any structures in the corporate holdings and turning the "city" into neutral ground, no fighting allowed.

That would make me very happy, an area where I won't get killed because I accidently traded with an overt faction member, and where I would not be killable through exploits as I have been in the past.

IF, and I do mean IF, SOE would put in the ability to make a city or other area into neutral ground it would encourage the player economy and make it possible for neutral crafters to actually sell thier products somewhere without the fear of having thier customers killed because of faction. I admit to being a covert rebel, but I occasionally have to drop my faction just so I can go to a city and deliver someone's merchandise. I have even had overt imps hanging around my shop watching and waiting for the ability to kill me or any overt rebel customers, and I have no faction related structures or anything else near my shop.

Devs, please, if you read this, consider the idea of creating a structure craftable by a master architect that will make an area into neutral ground, or consider having the ability to turn a player city into neutral ground. That would help all of the neutral crafters, as well as the factioned ones. Rather then having PAs support a small group of crafters for thier use only, it would enable neutral corporations which could hire factioned personnel, and it would give the "profession grinders" something worthwhile rather then just crafting whatever gives the most experience in practice mode.

Actually, we started a city on our server and we ARE trying to form a corporation.

It's more of an RP thing, but the power of collective crafting and selling is a force that cannot be argued with.

Mainly because we were all tired of running all over the place looking for STOCKED vendors.

So we're planning on having collective resource gathering, multiple designated master crafters, mall grand openings, even a Trade Federation and city security force.

Resources will be available to everyone, mall managers on different planets will place their orders for stock, orders will be filled and delivered, and anything an 'employee' requires can be supplied from within the corp.

We will have top-notch products provided at reasonable prices on well stocked vendors near all populated cities.

As soon as we have everything set up and running, everyone will know who Galactic Enterprises (GE) is.

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."
