Thread: Whats a good energy installation?

Seems the wind generators are not sufficient anymore to effectively feed my harvesters with energy. So I am looking to buy a new energyinstallation. What do you think is a good one, and what do I have to look for when placing it.

Thanks in advance,

Fusion Ion Generators, no questions asked.

Wind: BER up to 9, PE as good as always under 500

Solar: BER up to 8, PE sometimes a tad over 500

Fusion: BER up to 14, PE as good as always +500 on class 1, class 7 can easily reach +900

(Energy / unit of resource = PE/500, if PE < 500 then it is 1 energy / unit)

Are there any factors to look for when placing one ? Thanks in advance,

Well, you want it to be on a high concentration of radioactives so go survey oh,and usually a higher PE = higher class, so class 5 radioactives would have more PE than class 4.

If you are uncertain of how good the resource is, you can either sample it (beware, hurts you) or go to http://www.swgcraft.com and check what kind of radioactives are aviable on your Galaxy, on which planet, how long it has stayed there and so on (not guaranteed to be 100% correct, but it often is)

Aaah thanks, so it depends on radioactive materials. I am going to experiment with it

Yes, do watch out if you sample radioactives. I sampled a class 7 RA once, saw the massive damage it did, and thought I stopped sampling... until it sampled again and incapped myself. Spent the next 20 min in a cantina getting my mind pool back, and the next few hours healing myself with my novice medic skills, since I couldn't find a doc. I was lucky to find an entertainer, who was like "What hit you?"

Someone got killed by a radioactive rock once. Got killed twice before and didn't have enough health to survive the sampling. Death by rock, thats an interesting way to go.

You hand sampled a level 7 radioactive? Bet you don't need to use your personal light anymore.

If you're just looking for harvester power then yes fusion is the way to go, but the quality (PE) doesn't matter when it comes to using the power in harvesters only in crafting.l

WRONG!

If you have a energy with 1000 PE, it will give you 2 units of energy for every unit of resource (1000 units of radioactive would be 2000 units of power)

To find out how much power you get per unit you can use this formula:

PE/500

If the answer is less than one, it becomes one (in other words, all PE from 1 to 500 is worth 1 unit of power/unit of resource

I like that PE thing with Radioactives, makes them that much more attractive.

We had a spawn of class 7 with 970 PE not too long ago on Chim. Used one BER 14 and that'll be fueling my harvestors for weeks
