Hi,

I've read that you need to power your havestor. Now I see people mentioning Wind Power or Solar Power generators.... But in one post I saw a guy mention using radioactive material.... Can you just mine radioactive ore and use that? Or do you need to build some kind of nuclear power plant?

Thx

Yes.... I use radioactive ore to power my harvesters. 1 ore counts as 1 power.... most people think you have to place a power generator near your harvester, but power is "collected" , much like ore....

can a harvester harvesting radioactive power itself? if it needs a "jumpstart," will it produce more than it uses?

A mineral extractor can harvest the radioactive material, but you have to remove it from the hopper in order to use it as power- it won't automatically use it.... so a harvester will need an initial amount of power to start harvesting.... from then out, it should produce more than it takes to power.... Output, I think, is 200 times the efficency rating.... so, taking my harvester for example, 84% radioactive, it should produce 168 units of radioactive material per hour, while the power maintinence is only 25 per hour, netting 143 units per hour that I can distribute to my other two harvesters.

Could someone PLEASE tell me what i can sample in order to power my chemical harvesting machine? thank you!

I don't know for certain, but I don't think you can sample anything to power the harvesters. You need to build a wind mill, to collect wind power. Then you use that power you harvest to power the harvesters.

aww i was afraid of that....i can find NO good place to put down a wind generator anywhere near kor vella

Survey for RADIOACITVE materials.

There are other materials you can use to power stuff, just examine and it should say that its an energy type.

But Radioactive for sure will power stuff, I've done it.

Aye. Survey the Radioactive stuff. It'll give you a nice glow

I think Liquid Petrochem Fuel works too, but I haven't tried it.

Yes, you can power with radioactives and petrochemicals. That is a good thing, because other wise you would have no way to power your wind collector to get it started. :>

Is every unit of energy basically the same, or do they have differences? For example, might 100 units of Radioactive get me more or less time than 100 units of Wind power? Or is energy just energy once it's in your inventory?

Don't be to discouraged by the low concentration numbers for wind out there....

I've discovered that a wind generator in about a 15% concentration will profide sufficent power for a harvester, if you can get one in a 40% area, it will nearly provide enough power for 2.

But if you really want to run a harvester, it's usualy worth the time to just set up a wind generator near your harvester, whatever the concentration is...
