Thread: the grind of the grind
if you play an RPG offline....say final fantasy, phantasy star, or even knights of the old republic....do you expect to get everything off the bat?
I started out at a leasurely pace, so i gradually gained my xp as i gain real world experience in the game. My advice. don't grind if you don't like it, just enjoy the expericence of the game. (and yes there is stuff to do, anyone that says there is not, isn't looking hard enough or they're powergaming straight through it.)

once you can make wind generators there is nothing left unless you want to get into the elite professions and to do that you will need to make at least 70 wind generators (or equiavlent). that cannot be done in 3 hours, i dont care what anyone says.
artisan is a cake walk, except for surveying. I did all the crafting in under 3 hrs, once you can make wind generators its easy. I just sat at the bazarr in coronet. They have everything there to make wind generators. But good luck on surveying ...it takes forever.

It's all changed so much...
I started playing just a few months ago, and my experience of getting through the artisan tree was so different. I never used a crafting macro, and as far as i remember I never used the practice option (to be honest, I don't think i knew what it did at the time!).
Sure, it took me a while, but by selling everything i crafted on the bazaar (mostly clothes, i think) and running a few harvestors I made it through the tree without any major money problems. I picked up a few other skills so I could shoot things, gather resources from animals, heal myself and generally get a feel for the game. And i thoroughly enjoyed it.
Unfortunately, very few people seem to want to play at this leisurely pace now, and for those who do it doesn't seem to be possible any more. Now, the bazaar seems flooded with low-level items, so selling anything from the artisan tree is becoming more and more difficult. Blame the economy, the holo-grinders, whatever, but at the end of the day all I can do is sympathise with anyone who starts as an artisan now and actual wants to play it rather than grind it.
