Hi I started playing this game on Saterday and I would like to become a Droid Engineer, however I have to go through Basic Engineer first and this seems to be taking forever and involves a lot of effort, unlike say survaying where I can just hit one key and my character will sit there for 1/2 an hour gathering resources (I am quite far into the Survaying skill nealy Lvl 4, however my Engineer Lvl is only Lvl 3 which I just got). So could anyone give me any tips on how to raise my Engineer Lvl's fatser? For Lvl 2 I mostly Spamed Muzzles in Practice mode. The other problem is I never have enough resources to make the items. So if anyone can help thanks.

harvest wood, then make sticks.. they only require wood to make so you can set up a crafting macro (really easy) that will keep looping, and all you have to do is select the resources you want to make it from each loop..

then make yourself a few of each crafting tool.. some other crap bits and bobs..

then start making personal harvesters.. then the world is your oyster

you'll soon see yourself flying up the engineering tree..

How do I make harvesters? I do not seem to have them in my list of things I can make.

Harvesters may require the use of a crafting station (probably a public one like in front of the starports). Only when near one will you see the harvey on the list. Just a note if you are having trouble with resources, wind current survey tools give the most xp/resource unit, although you dont get a lot of xp and you will grind for a while, in the long run it will save money and resources.

you may need a structure crafting tool..

(which is another useful thing you can make for yourself)..

You don't need a structure crafting tool or be near a crafting station for the schematic to show up. If you are using a general crafting tool you will only get water and wind show up, if you are using a weapon, droid and general crafting tool, they should all show up providing you have engineering 3. They are in their own catergory under the installations tab. You will however need a crafting station if you want to experiment on the installations.

If getting through Engineering seems though, wait 'til you try to master DE.

*Sigh* My real problem is I just do not have the resources to make things. I tried putting a harvester down, then found out all the complications that come with it (Power, Maintainence, ect.) and it didnt seem to Harvest very fast I could get resources quicker from Survaying.

What is the best way to get a mass of resources?

I also heard you can use Macros to help you craft, how do I do that?

Harvesters are still the best way to get resources. Power/maintenance shouldn't cost you more than 3k per day for personal harvesters. Drop the harvester on a good spot and you should get 4-5k of resources per day. Drop more harvesters and you get more resources. Yes, you can probably pull more than that sampling for 24 hr, but do you really want to?

You 'can' get more sampling if you are comparing it with the output of 1 personal harvester, but when you get into using multiple harvesters this will exceed the amount you could sample even if you did so 24/7.

Resources are mined, so you either do this yourself or buy from someone who does (or sample if you really like punishment).

Make sure your harvester is placed on a decently high mineral concentration, I'd say at least 70% to be really worth while. If you pay 2000 maintainance to a personal harvester you can get a good 3 days odd out of it I think. You will, more than likely need a wind turbine to get power for it. These are about twice as expensive to maintain, but obviously, require no power. You can usually find both harvesters and wind turbines on the bazaar for between 500 and 5000 credits.

To get the money up just keep doing 900 credit survey missions, get two at a time for the same resource, and you can get 1800 credits per run. Do a couple of those and you're laughing.

What server are you on? If you're on radiant /tell eledren and I'll see if I can set you up with some basic stuff.

Forgot to add, untill you hit engineering 3, survey tools give the most experience. Once you reach engineering 3, wind turbines/harvesters give the most experience. Once you've heaped up some resources, you can start grinding them out and sell them on the bazaar to cut your losses a little. With that you can probably grind out artisan in a day or two at the most (once you've got the resources).

Make sure the personal harvestors you get are BER 4, otherwise you're still paying the same for a resource rate that's definately sub-par. If you're on Valcyn, send me a tell and I'll hook you up with some personal harvestors and wind turbines (BER 4 and BER 9, respectively).
