Thread: Basic Questions About Extractors (re-deeding, maintenance, and power)
1) When re-deeeding a personal mineral or chemical extractor, do leftover power and maintenance fees carry over when it's re-placed?
2) When I pay the 1500 to re-deed, is that carried over to the re-placement or is it just the fee for re-deeding, and therefore consumed? If the 1500 is consumed, it seems to me that it would be more economical to simply make a new extractor. If I was buying the resources for an extractor, it would cost less than 1500, and I'd get XP for building it. Maybe the re-deed fee is useful to non-crafters who can't jsut craft another one.
3) What does "Maintenance Rate 15" mean? 15credits per time-unit? How do you calculate the length of time your maintenance fee buys you?
4) How do you figure power consumption? If consumption is "25," what does that mean? Whatdoes the ratio mean (eg, 0:27)?
Thanks for your help.Dev's, this info should probably be in the manual.
1 - Left over, over the redeeding cost is carried over.
2 - The 1500 is vaporized
3 - 15 would be the cost per 30 mins of game time. So it costs 30 credits per hour to run.
4 - 0:27 is 27 hours of real time
I wish this was more consistant. IE: The time shown for main and the time shown for power were the same. Currently, one shows hours (0:27) and the maint shows days (1 days 13 hours) it was very confusing to me at first.

Same here. Unless i've got a good deal over 1500 of maint fees (which i usually don't because of minerals dissapearing so quck now adays) or a lot of power (which i usually don't for the same reason) i'm going to lose money by redeeding.
The main fees are per half hour but the power requirments are in one hour increments (go figure). Also 1:00 is 60 hours, not one days (also, go figure). So if you have 1:15 worth of power you actually have 75 hours worth of power. Where do the devs come up with this stuff?
Thanks for all the help, guys.
Sheesh, is there any wonder I needed it?
Seriously .. there could be a whole manual on how to use theses harvesters. Im a little upset at the way thier set up actually. Im a casual player who decided on trying some harversters after branching off into the food/clothing lines and even opening a small shop (a front for my smuggling of course)near Kaadera on Bloodfin. So i spent every last credit on a small shack, er i mean house and a small personal flora haverster, even got a mineral and chemical extractor as well and was ready to set them up. Then after what seems like endless hours of scraping together funds i have all my deeds and i set off to have them placed. Then i soon find out i need power to run them .. doh! Thats fine, i shouldve expected that however it wasnt in the manual. Sure, work in progress, understandable .. so i go off to get power. Hours later im still screwed as the extractors wont accept my energy source (500 units of known solid petro fuel) ... now im starting to get annoyed. I figure i seen all these farms with solar and wind generators so ill try one of those (seeing as it puts out a liquid fuel i think). After raising the funds to buy one and traversing the globe over and over i have it placed and it starts spinning. By this time im late for work and i figure ill let it run while im at work and maybe ill have some energy to use after work ... wrong! I check it out after the end of a particularly grueling day and i see not only do i not have anything in the hopper but its shut down due to lack of maintainance and fees .. now to get it running again i must pay MORE THAN THE ORIGIONAL COST!!! Thats pretty whack if you ask me. Now i havent complained about much, and i enjoy this game immensely, but i mean cmon ... maybe some documentation is in order. Im lucky i found this thread, cuz i just dont have hours to search through what is quickly becoming an archive thicker than the Library of Congress. I guess im just a little upset at the turnaround speed of a function of a game that is supposed to be played over years, and the fact that a simple footnote in the harverster could of told me what was needed to run it!
And at the end of all this i still dont know how to gte my harverters or wind generator thing working : ( To be honest it doesnt seem to be worth it, ill need to sell what, at least 720 credits (30 maint cost)worth of goods a day just to keep that one harvester operational? Perhaps im just a bit frustrated. Am i alone on this? Can anyone help me out here?
You have to supply it with more main fees. You have to stock up money into it or else it will isntantly degrade again. It takes bout 1400 credits to run a wind generator for a day. The main cost is how much it costs to run it for 1 hour. If you want to run it for several days just do the math. Paying the money is says just to bring it back up to 100% is not enough. You have to add more money on top of that to keep it running.
When I first got a harvester I didn't know about the maint fees thing either. You'll figure out a system where you do just enough artisan missions, or sell a percentage of what you harvest to break even on your maint fees.
1) If i re-deed my mineral or chemical harvestor......do i lose the power that i put into it?
2) Does the harvestor determine the quality of the resource? I surveyed at a certain spot and the quality was different than than what the harvestor got. Strange, maybe a resource shift?
Thanks,
lauranna,
1) as of a week or so ago, redeeded installations will retain their power, as well as any maintenance fees they contain over and above the redeed fee.
2) I've only once seen that kind of thing (just this weekend at a fiberplast extractor) and I think that resource shifts and an error they occasionally introduce might be behind this. I think they did some work on harvesters that became dysfunctional after resource shifts, and occasionally the resource you get may be the new shifted one, with all units IN the harvester being the new kind. That's the only reason I can figure for the many units of a different kind of fiberplast I got.
If you have more than the 1500 needed to redeed in an extractor, do you lose the excess when you do it? I have a wind generator that is on a 20% spot and wanted to move it but I put enough maint into it to last through the week.
How can you tell the stats of a harvester if you can only view the deed?
Whats the overall quality? I bought a harvester that was not as good as a previous one i purchased.
