Hi Guys,

I have just spent an hour looking for this so if it is there I appologise and can some one point me in the right direction...

But can anyone explain to me how this new CU armour works. I've read all the posts on how much is costs to make and resource increases and how the AP values relate to percentages, but how does the stuff work?

Does damage come off the AP value, or does the armour have a seperate condition to this value, and how does it deal with elemental damage? I'm going crazy HELP!!!!!

The new armor rating a 4 digit number is just a replacement for the old %. In practice they work the same.

If we have a weapon, maybe a stun baton with 300-600 energy damage (hitting for 450) and 50 electrical and we hit someone with an armor with 6000 protection against energy and 4000 against electrical. The following will happen.

6000 = 48% (or close to it)
4000 = 36%

450 energy * 48% = 216 protected
50 electrical * 36% = 18 protected
(450-216)+(50-18) = 266 points of damage taken (out of a possible 500)

The combat log will show the following
"A attacks B with Melee Hit using Stun Baton and hits for 482 points (450 points of energy damage 32 points of electrical damage). B's armor absorbed 234 points out of 482 possible points of damage."

The combat log is a bit cryptic as it shows energy damage before armor but elemental after armor.

Edit: And here is the formula for converting the armor ration to %. It is slightly off but good enough for most purposes.
0.11R - (5*10^-7)*R^2 with R being the armor rating and the answer in %.

You can also use Big_Swiftys formula as it gives the exact same result.
% Resists = W1*60 + W2*ER

with W1 = Armor Points/10,000
W2 = (10,000 - Armor points)/10000
ER = Armor Points/200

Hahaha, oh my hell, are you kidding me? Instead of just capping armor at 50 or 60% (lol, or 48.231465245624545%), they come up with some convoluted BS like this? Sheesh. Good call on this one :smileyroll-eyes:.

Yep. And now the WS are up in arms too over some of the changes to their stuff too. Guild WS just canceled his crafter account overit.

Cheers Mcgreag, good exlpination.Its not as complicated (or infact complicated at all, silly me) as I thought is was going to be from reading Blairs Blog.

I presume then that the nominalbonus to energy or nominalbonus in keneticor thepenalties for different thetypes of armour that are mentioned are just simply reflected in the four digit number that replaces the percentage rather than some special system?

Correct, Assault armor get +1000 kinetic -1000 energy, Recon armor get +1000 energy -1000 kinetic. So it's not a (1) free kinetic/energy layer but 10-12 free made from great resources layers

Missed one thing in the explanation above, I'll add it here and edit it in, the formula for converting 4 digit number to %.
0.11R - (5*10^-7)*R^2 with R being the armor rating and the answer in %.

You can also use Big_Swiftys formula as it gives the exact same result.

I think both formulas are slight off but they are good enough (errors is in the area of 1% at both ends of the spectrum).
