Thread: Armor conversion becoming my bigest concern

Of the things that are changing, we will have to accept the ones we can't change. But the current conversion of armor to the new system seems like it could be easily changed, and does not seem in line with the armor that can be made in the new system.

My information is only based on the numbers that have been presented on converted servers. Most of the converted armor is looking to be significantly lower quality than what is being made in the new system. The only thing that seems to be taken into account is the base protection. I understand that encumberance will not figure in, but the protection level that was best on server before should equate to best on server after.

Ideally I'd like to see a full rundown from a AS on a converted server. I think we need to see the difference between unsliced and sliced to all different levels of protection. I will jump all over this if Sunrunner gets a shot, but until then any more information would be very useful.

For me as an Armoursmith (not a consumer heh) I am quite happy with the conversions of Composite at the moment, the other armour types not so much so.

As it stands, most Composite is still usable, but I should (by all accounts) be able to craft better stuff. This I personally see as a positive from a money making point of view. If my old Composite was the best stuff on the server now and remained so after the CU, most people would stock up on it at current prices and then no-one would want any Composite Armour for a long, long time.

As it converts at the moment, I can immediately craft any type of Assault Armour with better stats, so most of those with current suits will come and buy a replacement suit at whatever price I charge for it (within reason). So yes, I'll lose money from unsold stock of my current stuff (altho depending upon how I value the cost of the new stuff, I could still continue to make money from it by selling it as a 'discount' range or sell it off cheaply now) but I will make more per suit selling the new stuff. I admit its not the best return in the world as resources used to make the old stuff will mostly be wasted, but looking at the new schems half of it won't be used after the CU anyway and we have to be reasonable with our requests.

I do agree with the arguements about other Armour types tho, especially RIS and Ubese. RIS is rare and very expensive to make, it makes sense that it should convert slightly better than standard Composite does. Ubese is the biggest issue for me at the moment when it comes to conversion. I am not aware of anyone that doesn't cap out Kinetic before Base (and then even some miss Base as its not used and go to Encumberance too), so to base Ubese's conversion on a stat that isn't really used in that type of armour is a bit crazy, Wookiee Black Mountain is basically in the same boat as Ubese too.

- Kinetic instead of Base conversion for Ubese/Black Mountain
- Slightly higher than 'standard' conversion for RIS (maybe take into account low HAM suits and give them a protection bonus?)
- Better conversion for Bounty Hunter Armour (assuming the changes made last patch didn't resolve this)
