After sobbing a bit over my house full of layers and my house full of shards not showing stats, I decided to try them crafting anyway and discovered something interesting.
NS Layer - An armor shard that can be used to enhance any type of BATTLE Segment
NS Shard - An armor shard that can be used to enhance any type of RECON Segment.
Interesting. I made a test seg of battle and a NS layer enhanced one. Needless to say, identical.
Hopefully, this truly is a conversion bug and not a "Throw your stashes out" bug.

wonder if there is an Assult Armor version?
Im sure it's just a Bug but we better add it to the list of things to keep an eye on.

With a few houses worth of these things (I'm sure other smiths have a lot more) I certainly hope it's a bug

Most old layers/shards won't be very useful post-CU anyway since armor pieces require so many identical what with the new seg/core system. Sure they're increasing drops of new loot, but all old ones probably won't be multiplied.

that's where your wrong i can make all bracers/biceps 100% without the need for a factory component.
Caile any new's on stat's for the enhancers i'll play around and see if it makes any difference.

Hmmm, I guess that's right, since they only need one core. So cores only require similar segments now? Wonder how that averaging function will work out, or if it is additive. Ie does three +5 health segs make it end up +15 health or +5.

i think the segs will add, my question is what will happen to pieces with more than one core with +15 health.... probably going to be like it is now with segs... 3-4x as much loot for same health gain.
