If you add say kinetic layers to an armor... is there a penalty for doing so? The description doesn't say there is... but I'm just wondering if maybe such a penalty was left out.

Hmmm... more and more I'm coming to the conclusion layering just is not worth the effort :/

Primus layers are the only thing worth using any more. It raises Kinetic and energy and lowers all elemental. Pfft elemental resist what a joke.

What sucks is that you can't really even mix and match layers anymore. They pretty much cancel ea other out.....

Well, I don't know that they will be that much of a joke. I am a master AS / master WS and I hav eonly made1 or 2 weapons post CU and I found that raising the elemental damage raised the DPS the most. I am no expert on post CU weapon crafting at allbut we might start to see weapons with more elemental damagein which case elemental resists might start to play a role. Not that armor really makes that much of a difference right now anyway.

On layering, my final combo for layers into segments has been 3 parts primus and 1 part energy. The reason I do this is it keeps the kin at around 6950 and brings energy up on par with the bases element damages. My customers seem to be quite happy with this for assault armor.

For the recon, I just reverse it and have 3 parts primus and 1 part kin. For the battle, It looks like only primus is gonna be needed, and then maybe not even then. My non layered battle is coming out at around 5815 to resists.

I think my biggest gripe is that their isnt any real diversity here. Its a rinse/repeat cycle and gets frustrating. The factory times are awful now and waiting 6 days to finish layers is absolutely insane. Then the experimentation process is about as fun as watching paint peel.

Slightly incorrect. It lowers energy protection by one more than it raises kinetic. IE, a +85 kinetic layer also applies a -86 to energy.
