hiya fellas im brand new to being an armorsmith and would like some advice from the veterans, now i have pretty much all the resources i could ever possiblly need but none of the experience to actually know what in gods name im doing to craft it,so with that said any advice on layers, segments, and proper experimentation, what is considered a good result a bad result, ext any advice would be appreciated please withhold all flames im seeking advice not to be ripped to pieces.

uh....okay. I'll run along now........did you push the red button? You did I bet....

Anyhow...atm armor experimentation is borked.

There's at most 2 lines to put anything into. You'll want to max effectiveness (that makes the armor "stron-ger") then condition (which will make the armor "last" "lon-ger").

To make good experimentations it's vital that you:

1)Do not attempt to craft anything without a crafting tool (very dangerous)

2)Do not attempt to use resources in slots that they don't fit in (i.e. Don't use hide in a steel slot....bad mojo)

3)If your experimentation isn't great go ahead and start over, unless you manage to max the line - that is fill up the little blue bars so they're all yellowy inside.

4)Try to use the best resources you can when you're making "the go-od" stuff. OQ = Overall quality, SR = Shock Resistance. These are your 2 most important stats. DR = Decay Resistance is important in your final build, but in your final build you can only experiment on Condition....

5)ummmm...well, it helps if you "use" your crafting tool, either from the toolbar, or the radial menu (of the tool).

6)If you're missing some schematics, stand closer to a "crafting station". Specifically a clothing and armor crafting station, although there have been reports of ao food and chem station being useful in Armor crafting...still being looked into.

7)Try READING the FORUMS that you post in before posting in them to ascertain whether the information you want, either generallyor specifically has already be asked and answered for.....

8)Factories...you'll need factories. When the schematics say it need "xxx from a factory crate" you to use stuff from a factory crate...almost always more than 1 too....so you might want to get a calculator if you don't have one.

9)You'll want a speeder, so you can quickly "travel" from your "crafting place" to your "fac-to-ries"

10)Don't forget that houses and factories take maintenence, and you might need some of them

11)If you're stuck in a city try finding a "shuttleport" or "starport" ticket terminal. You can buy tickets to other locales through these.

12)I was gonna put some resource stuff here, but you said you were okay on that stuff so I won't.

13)You need lots of good resources

14)Store your resources in a clean, dry place...like a lockbox.

hope that's a little more helpful......so I'll just be running along now.....or now....er...now! dern...now? nope.....now! dern again...this is harder than it looks. I may have to take the chewing gum out of my mouth for this.

im looking for stats on sub components so that i can compare my finnished products with some of those that you the more experienced players use to craft, perhaps links to other posts,or screen shots of stuff, basically anything helpful that will and could help me better understand a profession i have yet to actually become successful at,not some wiseenheimer who describes how to craft from beginning to sarcastic end.

basically im trying to conserve time wasted flipping through about 200 pages of endless posts so that i can devote more time to crafting properly and then going off and pvping, ive heard there are spread sheets for crafting, like i said i have my suit, and a TON of resources basicaly anything and everythign i need i just don't as of yet have the know how.

okay okay.

In all seriousness after sorting through 200 pages of info, I learned that the only way to make a fair comparison of the stats of <item> made by me compared to the best ever on my server was to look at my server's trade forums and see what's going for a lot, and to check other people's shops who sell the same things as me.

It's really server dependent because different resource spawns will affect the maximum output for any server, or server "cap" on item quality.

You can also just ask a few of the more renowned armorsmiths on your server what they tend to get for stats on layers, segments, cores, and final build condition. They might let you in on a few time saving tips too, depending on your setup for crafting.

Honestly though, the best way to find out if your stuff is any good is first to make what you can, then ask for a comparison of numbers. Theoretical maxes and such are posted all over all the boards already, but since you dun wanna lookitup, here's the general theme

Final Build Protection:

10000

Cores

Probably a bit less than that

Segments

Over 1000 is really good

Layers

THe higher the percentage the better the + will be, but the worse the - will be.

Something more like that? And stop eyeing the red button!

Good advice - there is a Caps Lock key, don't press it.

There are paragraphs, use them!

And take notes as you craft and experiment with different stuff. The more info you have to look back at, the faster you'll figure out the whole crafting process and how resource stats and experimetationeffect everything.
