I have some gloves and boots that when i right click them it gives me a command to refit armor what exactly does that do?

Refit will allow you to change the type of armor ONCE only to any other type of armor (within reason - ie not Mandolorian/BH) it was put on all armor that was made before the combat upgrade so no one would get stuck witha suit of armor that they couldn't ware

You will also lose on socket when you refit pre CU boot and gloves. Armor boots and gloves cannot be made with sockets anymore, but pre CU ones will still take AAs.
Note that when you refit the armor, you won't be able to choose the color.
