Do whatever you think will be funnest.
However, take into account that commando special moves require you to be 16m from your enemy. If all 3 of you are commandos, you'd want to group with other non-commandos to draw fire while you rush up to do your move. If it's just the 3 of you, you'll be dead from eyeshots way before you get close enough.
I wouldn't suggest using a Melee class with SL because if you drop, the whole group just lost all of the bonuses you bring with you. On some planets that could break the group.
Everyone probably plays the SL prof different but I find my main role is too keep the group organized and aware. I use /sys ALOT toI let everyone know who to /assist, when to follow, when to stop, if we have additional agro's, Who needs heals, when to retreat and probably most importantly, When to stick out a tough fight and not let fear get the better of you.
Now I can't do that if I'm in the MOBs face or on my back, but maybe you can, or maybe you're just in it for the passive bonuses.
Honestly I think most SL should have a ranged wepon prof and at least be able to use Stim B's effectivly. This allows you to stay back far enough to see what's going on and gives you the ability to heal your healer if he/she gets whomped and back the healer up if needed. Everything else is gravy.
I like to look at is as, what do we need minimum to make a group? With a TKA tank anda Medic, I can kill most anything out there. So TKA is an option. CH of course rocks as they are even better tanks!
Non melee types are easy to find. Of course, thats cause of melee's suxors in PvP, but thats another issue.
