Thread: Why all the whining?
Quit yourwhining already.
**edit** its a wonder the Dev's listen to any of us with all this bitching and moaning everytime they fix something. Has there been one patch yet that has come without a few bugs? No, so why should this one be any different? Just figure out what's broken and we'll make another "needs fixed" list. Things have improved, not everything is working the way we might like but generally things are better.
What the hell is up with the "if this doesn't get fixed I'm gonna quit?" Hey if you don't like it by all meansget out but why the hell do you need to tell us about it? You think anyone here will miss you if you go? Perhaps you think SOE is just waiting on your $15 topay the power bill? Get real, its a game if you don't have fun playing it then find something better to do. If your staying then help the community make it better, not by adding your voice to those screaming and crying but by testing and providing some solid data on what is and isn't working.
As for me the only thing I know for sure is the color pallet is working much better now, at least for the few things I could test. That was all I could check using my floating crafting station (probot). Heck I can't even get back to my shop because of a transport bug. Am I ranting? No, I'll just check back tomorrow and see what I can do. My friends already know they are in for some late nights of getting shot testing armor again LOL.
i have been a carbineer (at heart) since release and overall im happy with carbineer. Most of our problems can be fixed with a tatooine sunburn... the rest are, well, out of our hands. Though at the moment I am only 2-2-2-2 Carbineer (gave it up for holocron- MBH), i can say that the damage that i do in PvE is such that i cant complain.
I use standard carbines- save a few krayts for PvP, and i get extreme damage! 2-7k damage is enough for me! and when you can fire thatabout every secondwhat is to complain about? As i see it, everyone knows our problems (HAM, defenses, Elite, and specials) and these have at least been acknowledged by some higher power. Many professions havent had this blessing yet.
Last time i looked, Squad Leader, Pikeman, and other professions areas badoff than we are. Not to negate the fact that SOE is insane for releasing with such MAJOR flaws. But if you take a moment and look at how other people are in as much trouble, or even greater, you learn to appreciate what we do have!
So I have come onto this forum every day for the last few weeks and all i see are repeat posts about how we got sca-rewed and pistoleers are gods and how we dont do any damage. The good posts about our profession are few and far between it seems.
My motive for posting this seemingly rant, is to get across that we arent the only "broken" profession and we cant all be uber powerful! That would not be fair. So as the underdogs i say we all suck it up and hope for the best. Have faith that someday we will be viewed as equals to pistoleers and riflemen.

Just because others are worse off than we are is no reason to stick our heads in the sand. I like Squad Leaders. I like Droid Engineers. I like Bio Engineers. But guess what. I am not ANY of those classes. I am a carbineer. I'll support other classes in their fight to become competitive, but i will not champion their cause. I want MY class fixed.
Your arguement would have sounded a whole lot better without the "Most of our problems can be fixed with a tatooine sunburn". I refuse, as a lot of people do, to become a spice junkie all you can eat buffet freak in order to compete.
I do agree that we are not all that bad off. Chargeshot followed by cripple shot is one of the best PvP things you can do. Fix our ham costs, and specials and we're near golden, imo. It does, however, take a loud consistent whining voice to get heard. And just because you get heard doesn't mean you should quit whining until the fixes actually go in.
I, a carbineer, have a handful of crap. My friend, the pikeman, has two handfuls of crap. Just because he has two handfuls of crap doesn't mean I am going to appreciate having one handful of crap. I don't want any crap. My 15$ assures that i have a right to not have crap on my hands. Whats more, it assures that i have the right to complain when I do find my hand (even if it is only 1) full of crap.

b) You act like you are the first person to have this epiphany. Fact of the matter is, its a bandwagon people quickly jump off of because they are wrong.
c) You have got BH skills. Don't you think that extra speed and accuracy has SOME impact on your perception of the class. Go away DABBLER.

I was expecting a post like yours. I am not a dabbler. I am a Ranger/Carbineer and **edit** proud.
I was attempting to put some things into perspective because a lot of you seem to be lost in SWG. Had you ever tried to be anything else in this game, you would see how fortunate you really are. And tat sunburn isnt a spice.... i would hope that my flames would be of truth. it is merely a food.
For the money i pay each month i know I AM GETTING SCA-REWED. So is everyone else. But as much as i hate SOE, you have to understand the process of change in such things. Its not overnight. Would you feel so gyped as a carbineer if you were better than pistoleers? Many whiners ruined carbineer for all and championed the pistoleer profession.
Not to mention the fact that you are being pretty selfish, claining that because YOU pay carbineer needs to be fixed. when in realyity thousands pay per month and when the majority of people are pistoleers/CH, who do you think will get the most attenion at patch time? the struggling minorities? or the main populus?
That is what i thought. Think outside the box for once. Its not like SOE is making you play their game.

-last time I checked, MBH was Master Bounty Hunter. MCH is master creature handler. If you are going to correct someone's mistake, make sure you yourself are correct.

-My original response was "a spice junkie all you can eat buffet freak in order to compete." Notice the part about all you can eat buffet. Hmmm, I wonder what people eat at buffets. Oh, thats right. FOOD. I would hope retorts to my posts contain some level of reading comprehension. Spelling is not necessary, as I am a poor speller and that is ok

-Anyone with at least two neurons firing knows how things get changed. If you do not believe whining is a valid route, I advise you to revisit the pistoleers quest to get fixed. Indeed, superior numbers is on their side. But boy OH boy did they do a good job of kicking and screaming to get heard. So, our choices are to have superior numbers and/or kick and scream. Well, we don't have superior numbers.

-For sure I am. Again. My 15$ entitles me have my expectations met. Do I care about pikemen? No (except Pappy. Poor **edit** had his holocron tell him pikeman). I don't bring poles to gun fights. This is Star Wars, not EQ2. We use guns. Beyond that, I use guns.

-The main populus. Duh. Thats common sense, NOT thinking outside the box. By the way. There are a LOT of Creature Handlers. Lets call them CHs for short. Thats a C, not a B. And guess what? They are getting NERFED this patch. Sometime being the biggest player on the field doesn't mean you are going to get a hug. Sometimes, you get a punt to groin, no cup.
Let me sum this up a bit. I don't hate carbineers. I don't think we have the shortest end of the stick. I am pretty happy with my class. So much so that I continue to plug my money down every month. That is my right as an idiot with a credit card. I can pay for things. I get to consume.Once I pay for and consume products, I have completely earned the right to speak up about it. The idiot with a credit card sharing the same bandwidth as me also has a right to speak. Guess what though? He hasn't paid for the right to tell me or anyone elsehow to think. Or how to express what we think.
The last bit is where OUR problem comes into play. People on this board have expressed their unhappiness with the class. You, Minister of Death (and indeed and I am trying to keep myself from laughing), are telling us what and how to think. That just isn't going to fly. If you had come in all warm and fuzzy, with hugs and muffins for all of us carbineers, and said "Hey guys (and gal?). I was thinking. Maybe we shouldn't be so down on ourselves. I mean, at least we aren't droid engineers" and proceeded with a nice thought out post, you would have received a different response. And opened up a dialogue. Instead, you came in with "I r teh shizzle. joo cry babeez po me off dude. tattie suns iz da bestest way 2 go. I roxxor, FLAME ON!!!!11!11"
In conclusion, go get yourself another holocron. Make sure you drop carbineer to master whatever the "force" tells you to. Then you won't find the need to agonize over those depressing carbineers.
And remember (I'll use your own words here): "as much as i hate SOE....Its not like SOE is making you play their game." Take your own advice. Carbineers aren't MAKING you read their threads.
In a second conclusion, can't we just build a campfire and get along? Maybe we could turn this into a "how to alter our own perception of our class" kind of discussion. You know, benefit ourselves. I'll be happy to continue on in that vein. I'll bring the marshmallows, you guys bring the valid discussion.

I want to know what the hell you have at 2-2-2-2 carbineer that I don't at 3-3-3-3 carbineer that does SEVEN THOUSAND damage!!! Oh, and while your at it, how in the world are you hitting speed cap on specials at that level? Geez... if you had actually read my post, you would realize that i had dropped BH.... i dont know where you are coming up with the idea that i still have it... andi didnt say CH. I have been a carbineer since day 1, only dropped it a short while ago for my holocron quests.
Oh, i use krayt carbines because as a ranger i can sell meat and hides and make money. I think my current laser is 113-490 damage, i easily hit for 7k on downed target (as thats what carbineers do). Im thinking you havent owned a krayt carbine, or you didnt know how to use it. I also have a +25 carbine speed skill tape enhanced undershirt,and it seems that theyit's working.
I am the minister of death as i pvp A LOT. I am 2 hit kills. I do better than pistoleers. what can i say. PvP is something you get good at.
So, what i understand from your postis that your $15 makes more difference than everyone else's. I stand by what i say. I didnt say you are wrong. Im just saying if you look around, we are fairly well off. I have done pistoleer,rifleman, fencer, tka, and polearms and i came back to carbineer. that says a lot.
So umm... please dont bother posting any more replies to my post. you all are burned out after sticking with a "broke" profession. Im still enjoying it.

Umm I have to totally agree with gpunk on this one. Yes we do have problems with our profession, no doubt about it;yes other professions have problems too, no doubt about that either BUT that does not mean we are not entitled to complain about them anymore than droid engineers are entitled to complain about there problems and so on and so on. The fact of the matter is, this is a game thatWE pay for which means WE are the customers that are provided a service that is currently broken. If you cable TV or your telephone service was out you would certainly complain about it wouldn't ya? Or, by yourexample, would you just sit there and stare at the fuzzy TV in the hopes that some day you will eventually see a picture again?
So by what you are sayingwe should all just sit here anddeal with the problems that we have untilwe all get fed up and quit or SOE closes the doors? I don't think so. That iscertainly never going to get anything fixed with our profession.
By the way, if you haveperused the other forums here you will see that they are absolutely loaded with other customers complaining of the problems that they are having. Ohand I am sure most carbineers would agree with me in thatif SOE woulddo anything at all to help fix our profession then the whining would not be so thick in here. Unfortunately we have all been swept aside since the beginning of the game while other professions are getting the attention that I think we deserve. You can not incriminate anyone here for wanting SOE to at least attempt a fix for us anymore than any other profession in this game.
After I kill a few dozen Jedi Initiates as a BH I'm leveling carbine, dropping BH, and going Carbineer / Doctor.
Carbines are the natural counter to pistoleers with their action bleeds and legshot2. If legshot3 is ever fixed pistoleers will have it extremely tough. My confirmed kills against pistoleers from actionshot1, 2, and legshot2 spamming is ridiculous. Or let me put it this way, if I double-bleed their action at 60 meters their only chance of survival is to run away. Every special they pull brings them closer to killing themselves.
Carbines are extremely fun toys and a lot more fun to use than a pistol. I was master pistoleer. Nothing in the pistoleer class is as fun as even carbine fullautosingle1. And the charge shot animation is just **edit**ing classic, best animation for any ranged attack. Charge shot ham costs are also lower than BH underhand shot and there is no KD timer for the target.
Yeah, I have the benefit of BH carbine speed, but regardless once BH is boring I will be master carbineer. The weapon is under-appreciated.
After carbine/ doctor I'm going rifleman / tka master.

Carbineer really got a bad rep when SOE "fixed" carbineers. Carbineers naturally fought against the high HAM and then new players picked up carbines and started whining. Thats about it... a few players gave a great profession a bad name. Thats about all there is to that.

As far as specials go they cost me almost nothing. I eat 2 ryshcates and 1 breath of heaven. In full comp armor for example a heal with a stim-b costs -97 mind points. With the 2 ryshcate and 1 BOH the same heal costs -13. I think full-auto single1 costs about-27, and that's with my full comp armor. If you eat food you can really cut loose with the carbine.
