I thought I'd give SWG another spin now that it's been half a year since the CU. It looks like PSGs still don't work. Is that true?

mine seems to work just fine also did a test with a jedi friend with the psg on the fight lasted till we both ran out of mind approx 5 min without his psg on i incaped him in 2min
maby you need to let yours charge up and check the condition also you will know when it works as there is a pretty green flash as a energy weapon hits it

PSGs work fine. The don't work against melee energy attacks (lightsabers and blaster fists), only ranged attacks. With each hit they take, they lose some of their protection, but they charge back up once you stop taking hits. How fast they recharge depends on the recharge rate. Each time they recharge, the lose a little condition.

You can tell the PSG is working if you watch yourself in 3rd person mode and when a shot hits you, you will see a thing, spherical , green around you that fades quickly.
My question is how does the PSG protection get factored in (i.e is there a way to tell how much damage it took before it ran out of juice?)
Lets say I am wearing Recona rmor with a Energy protection of 6615 and the PSG is 2215.
How is the PSG protection calculated? I have seen the calculations for armor value so I know that 6615 translates roughly into something like 66% protection vs energy in this case (thats is 66% of the incoming damage is blocked by the armor)
I am assuming the PSG works in the same manner? that is it blocks approx 22% of the incoming damage before it hits the armor?
Ive seen the damage numbers in my logs for how much my armor took but I have never seen the PSG in the logs so I am wondering if there is a way to tell from the logs how well it actually performed?

PSG protection is calculated like it's another layer of armor. Say you get shot for 100 points of energy damage wearing a 2000 resist PSG and 7000 energy recon. The PSG will stop 20 percent of the damage, leaving 80 points that hit the armor. The armor then stops 52.5 percent of the 80 points, not the original 100 points, for a total of 38 points of damage.
