As the regulars know we are trying to get a website built for the AS community with all that entails. And as such, a few of us got together (Caile, Scorpiux and Myself) a little while ago and talked some things over. One of the things we came up with is a catalogue of armor in the game.
Wehad a littlepow-wow and I am now officially in charge of the armor catalogue. So I'm doing the only sane thing. Delegating the work to all of you
What I'm looking for are volunteers willing to take pictures in game (High/maximum graphic details preferred) of every single piece of armor in the game along with the colours. Now maybe you see why I could use a wee bit of help
We want to do a combined Catalogue and Colour coder for all armor in-game.
So what I'd like is some volunteers willing to take one suit of armor and supply me the following:
1 Picture of the armor in standard colour taken from the front and side. Helm, Chest, Leggings, Boots takenfrom the front. Gloves, Biceps, Bracers from the side. Gloves taken so the back of the hand is visible (One hand should be enough)
And here's the biggie. I need one pic of EVERY colour on every piece of armor avaliable. The combinations don't matter, I just need to be able to see what colour you are using.
If you want to volunteer you would be responsible for the whole suit of armor. This is for the look of the catalogue as we all would end up with different angles etc and it would end up looking silly.
Screenshot can be taken by using the default "Prt Scr" button on your keyboard. They will be placed in your SWG folder.
Like I said above, details are preferred high or maximum. This goes for the quality of the picture as well. Please save them in JPG format at the highest settings.
Once the pictures are taken, I would appreciate it if you could zip it up and send it to [email protected]with the subject "SWGArmor". Please no other subjectnames.
I'll start off by taking Mabari armor off your hands.

Shiro' recently told me a good little hint.
Instead of taking a ton of screenies, you can use "Fraps" or some other monitor capture program to just make a movie of you selecting the various colours.
This would probably be alot faster than taking screenies.

do you want the peice of armor in examine mode? do you want a pic of someone wearing it? do you want an individual pic of every armor peice? and in every color?
so if padded has roughly 60 colors, and there are 9 peices of padded, do you want 540 pictures?
I am just seeking clarification. I would do RIS, (with only 12 colors, but you just want one of each color, not every combo?)

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.

do you want an individual pic of every armor peice? and in every color? Yes. Like I said I don't need the zillions of combinations avaliable on say marauder armor, just a pic of each colour where I can see which colour you are using and what part said colour is affecting (If you're making green pictures make sure that only one section of the armor is green etc.)
so if padded has roughly 60 colors, and there are 9 peices of padded, do you want 540 pictures? Yep. Small job aint it?

Wont be a bandwidth problem..
the images will be used to create the catalog in flash. These days compression in flash can be amazing. ![]()

just started on the screenies and got a question for you, only one glove side view...what about bracers and biceps...do you want side view on both left and right biceps/bracers or will one of each suffice? i.e only left bracer and bicep x 143 colors(if i counted that right lol)

Both left and right would be best, as they aren't the same always (Eg. Marauder right bicep has a different look than the left)

Any coders out there that could possibly do something like this with other armors?
I think it would be something really neat for the site, and make it a lot easier for custom Orders.

I don't know if you have discussed this earlier but since someone did mention flash compression, I wanted to suggest taking a small movie of the armor equipped on a model and rotated. Convert that to flash movie and compress. Rather than side view, front view and color pattern stills in a movie sequence, use the actual rotating modelled sequence and tack on the pallete off to the side or as the background. I'd like to attempt that if someone isn't already doing it and if you guys think you can use something like for thecatalogue. Let me know here or via pm.
