What is the chance of success for a AS improving armor cond?

As in, repairing? I've never heard of anyone ever actually raising the max condition on an armor piece, FS repair or not. From what I've heard, FS repair seems to produce results no better than without it, on average.

I thought you were asking if max condition can be raised, as one might be led to believe by the description on the Force Repair 4 box in crafting mastery.

Yes, of course we can repair armor, as can anyone with an armor repair tool. Armor repairs always result in some reduction of the maximum condition, so it's best not to repair too soon. Aim for repairing at around 50%, or when the resists on the armor start to drop.

Armorsmiths may or may not receive a bonus to repairing armor - the evidence is inconclusive. In any case, if they do receive a bonus it doesn't appear to be a very substantial one. Samegoes for FS repair. The only thing known to affect the outcome of a repair significantly is the quality of the repair tool.

So what are the chances of the repair failing and what happens if it does?

If the repair fails completely, the item's condition drops to 1/1, rendering it useless. Chances of that happening are pretty low, say 5% or less. The risk may be greater if the armor's condition is lower than 20% or so. Keep in mind all repairs drop the max condition a variable amount, from 5-40%.
