Thread: Question about experimenting with kinetic layer.

At what point does the quality cap out? If I get one amazing success I can get my quality to 92% and still have 4 exp points left over for durability. OR I can get quality to 95% and only have 3 exp points left over for durability.

Sorry for the dumb question. I wish I could see exactly how much difference it makes to the base effectiveness. What is 95% quality like 4.5 base effect?

thanks

Generally I always max out the middle line 1st. But if you want to see if it will make a difference, you can experiment with gloves, or test it out through AS little helper, which can be found in the swgcraft forums.

In theory 100% is the cap. Depends on what you are trying to do, if you want to make decent HAM armor with 3 same type layers then 92% Im sure is more then enough. If you want to max out your base in the final combine then by all means max out the quality line, you get the best payoff in boosting basefrom layers.

It depends on how you're using the layers at the segment process. If you are only using 1 layer then the 3% difference is not going to help you. But, if you are trippling the kinetic layer into the segment then you will usually gain about 1% base.

depends on the armor too.

for ubese you want one with the special kinetic fully maxed... forget base. so if you land amazing, its worthwhile to "waste" half a point by bumping from 92%-->95% as it may raise assembled armor to 77% kinetic.

For composite, I can't emphasise enough the importance of testing things out by making gloves. Hand-craft three layers, make a segment, and then some gloves.

As an example, I was just today looking to make some 70% base light stun armour. The first time around, I got to 87% quality (4% base)on the layer, with a couple of those little purple doodads left. I put the remaining points into durability, and the segment I got as a result was 33% base.

Going back and making 3 more segments where I maxed the quality with another point, it was still 87%, but the segment reached 34% (with worse HAMs, obviously). Just that hidden decimal on the layers was enough to up the base on the segment by 1%.
