Hi everyone,

I have an armorsmith character on the scylla server and I need some help.

I got master armorsmith about 2 months ago and I still can't make good armor. I have excellent crafting stations and tools. I also have tried to get the best resources possible.

The problem is that some of these resources (kirium steel, polysteel copper, beryllius copper, axidite Iron) haven't shifted on in decent qualities since I've gotten the profession.

I have everything needed to make armor, but when I made a piece of advanced composite, the stats were 41% base and 54% special, which pretty much is aweful.

So I guess the question I have, is how long did it take for you to start making good armor? How long did it take you to aquire good resources? And should I try to sell some of my starter armor? I don't want to get a reputation for making bad armor.

At this point I've got sooo many credits into my resources but I just can't seem to recover what I've sunk into the business.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Well I was making Very High quality armor right from the time I hit Master Armorsmith... Took me a few sets of gloves to experiment around and figure out what I was doing right and what I was doing wrong... but after that I was making Very nice stuff...

Getting good resources??? Well... I started playing in the beginning of January, and Pretty much have been Collecting resources ever since then and I didn't become a Master Armorsmith until the day after the one day patch experimentation changes...I too have dumped a shxt load of cash into acquiring good resources, and in many cases the Best resources...

Basically, If you want to make good armor you have to get the Best resources... And if you want to make High Resist Armor, You have to use the Best Layers you can make... If the stats you listed on your composite armor is Unlayered Composite then you should be alright... Sure, you could get it better than what it is, but You really need good layers and good segments to make good stuff, and those all depend on resources... so I suggest you either keep playing around with Gloves until you figure out what you can do, or look to keep upgrading your resources...

Ok, well the stats I listed was unlayered.

What are the percentages on some good segments. I got 15% base on my segments.

Yeah, I've been an armorsmith for 2 months now and while I have all the resources, I realize that some of them could have better stats. But on the scylla server several key resources haven't shifted on in good qualities in a very long time (according to the other armorsmiths I've talked to).

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice? At this point, I'll take any advice I can get.

A side note for this is that I'm NOT holo grinding. This is a profession I plan to keep. I bought an alt since I wanted to make armor.

Thanks,

ok. well I got 41% base without any layers.

I haven't played around with layers. I take it they add to your base protections?

bingo!! there it is. you were wondering why your armor isnt so good. if you want to make composite, make gloves. these do not require a factory made segment. so play around, make 3 of the same layer, then make a seg, now make a pair of composite gloves. Do this till you have a pair of gloves with the stats you want. play around try for higher base, see how low you can get the HAM but still have 80% kinetic and 60% base.

you can put all experimentation points into base on the segment or the special protection or HAM. I would be willing to bet the best armorsmiths on your server have made a ton of composite gloves. I ALWAYS make a few pairs to get it right before I throw the layers or segs into a factory.

try it out.

YAY!!!!

Tried layering my segments for kinetic.

I got 65% electric

66% base

79% kinetic

with a 25% base slice

That's not too bad is it?

make a lot of gloves

you say the main resources havent shifted in for a while, you can prob make good armor if you play around a bit.

try different layers. I am master and finally got 11 exp points and that does make a noticeable difference. A lot of what I was making was only getting to about 55% base. I tried a few different layers that I had resources for. Skevon gas just had a nice shift on valcyn and I had wanted to try to make some acid layered stuff. It also needed crystaline gemstone and I had some awesome stuff from not too long ago. Using all the same resources and acid layers instead I got some 64% base 80% acid. 64% base can slice to 86% base with a perfect slice. about a 10% bump to base not too bad.

I think cold layers are the easiest to get resources for, polymer, alum and one other? lots of people have stuff for that lying around in decent quantities. You didnt say what type of advanced composite you were going for. I assume it was kinetic layers that is most popular. You might try other layers.

resources and experimentation, I spent tons on resources and havent really gotten to the point where I am making tons of money, because I am still buying resources. I have probably 20 million units resources but go through some like wooly hide like butter. I also run 5 factories, a lot of times if you have good resources you can only make money as fast as your factories will go.

hope this helps
