i've come to realize that armorsmiths are gimped, especially compared to weaponsmith. I only use two armor types: composite and ubese. I am sure others may use more, but these two armors dominate the game. However, as a pistoleer/smuggler, I have a wide array of choices. FWG5, republic blaster, scout blaster and DX2 are my main weapons of choice. Add to the fact that combat profession specific weapons such as flamethrower, scatterpistol and the lightning cannons, you begin to see the numerous markets that the weaponsmiths can tap into.

My two cents, a dozen more armor types are necessary, profession specific armor as well as general combat armor. Even, if the current array of armor were improved, you still lackthe varietyoffered by a weaponsmith. The lack of multiple functional armor makes the game bland.IfI walk past someone and you ask me whatweapon hewas carrying, I probably couldn't tell you.But i could probably tell what kind of armor hehad on. More armor would give the game more variety. Each armor should be given special resist to a specific damage type. Not the current way, but like easily made 70% energy resist with chitin armor. Master armorsmiths would have the ability to increased the base resists for each armor set and reduce the encumbrance better than non masters. But thespecial resist for each armor could be easily manipulated by novice armorsmiths who had the skill set to build that particular armor set. Furthermore, while composite armor base resists could be easily manipulated by masters as a whole. Hardworking, experiment driven and experience master armorsmiths could find ways to make the other armors just as good as composite in relation to base resist.

Imagine a heavy armor battle exoskeleton for a commando, that needed a DE engineered parts to complete. How about light scout armor, for snipers and lookouts that had a camo skill modifer that the reduced accuracyof the enemy combatants. There is so much that this profession could offer that would liven up the game.

I agree on the direction of your post. Id like to add some species specific armor as they are doing with the Wookiees ( myself ).

I really do not think that in the whole galaxy that Twilek's and Mon Cal's would look identical in suits of composite owing to their differing cultures and distance ( Its in a GALAXY ya know and thats kinda big?!!) Just the cultural differences would make designs on the armor different. Give the art department some slack and see what wonders they can create. Im sure they can come up with some design that can be incorporated.
