i may not have phrased the question right.

i have a padded armor belt with 18% base, with zero vulnerablilites.

i know chest peice, boots, gloves protect against health pool damage, and the leggins protect against action pool damage, helmet = mind pool damage, etc

i wear this padded beltover a full suit of comp, does anyone know what attacks it will protect me from, and also what H/A/M it protects?

They still dont protect against anything.

If anything they protect against 'belt' hits... which may possibly help against an armour hole... or even create an armour hole by providing low resist to the area which is normally protected by the higher resist of the leggings.

i can understand your view on it, but i was hoping that we canget an official word from our AS correspondent?

I agree with the above posters. As far as I know, they don't protect against anything. There's not "belt" slot that can be targeted, just as there's no "undershirt" slot that can be targeted.

Of course, I could always be wrong

The best way to test it would be to don the belt (and only the belt, although wearing general tailor-made clothes shouldn't interfere with the test) and go out and find a mob that does a damage type that the belt blocks (kinetic would probably be easiest). Just make sure it's a very low level mob. let the mob pound on you for a while and see if any of the damage is blocked. If it is, well, then the belt blocks some damage. (and I'd be extremely curious to find out if it does indeed block any damage).

Actually I believe they do protect against damage. From my understanding (don't remember where I read this), but I believe they act as PSGs, absorbing the first amount of damage no matter where it hits, then letting all additional damage pass through as usual. Dont quote me on this though, Im not completely sure. I dont see how else armor in the belt slot would work.

I never seen any belt pervent any dmg in my combat log ever

They used to block but it was changed back in like publish 1 or 2. That's probably where the infamous armor hole comes from. I don't know if wearing a shield generator or padded pelt opens up the armor hole or not, that would be an interesting test.

They do not protect anything...unless you count armor attachments.

hmm, the belt clearly has resists, both special protection and effectiviness stats, and the one i havehas zero vuln, it was made with a rancor padded armor segment.

I made one and did not see any option to experiment resists.. and it did not end up having any resists. It seems to me like it is the same as the Ubese shirt, which doesnt protect anything.

almost, your right in that you can't experiment, but thats not what this post is about.

im using padded armor segments that give base and special resists so from the assembley they have resists.

Belts and Bandoliers do not protect you from any damage at this time.

These assumptions are incorrect. Each piece of armor protects a certain body part not a pool. Certain specials will hit you in a specific body part and target a specific pool. That is not the same as armor protecting a specific HAM pool.

So to answer your specific question: wearing the belt with composite does not provide additional protection. It does not any of the different HAM pools.
