I know I can get about 4-6% by using krayt or voritor components, but it doesn't seem to be improvable through experimentation. Experimenting on efficiency doesn't raise special resists, and experimenting on special resists only raises bone armor's one natural specialty (energy) regardless of how many more have been added by creature components...or at least it seems that way. Is there some special order I've missed?

From what I remember bone armor is vuln to kinetic so you cant raise it by experimenting base efficiance up.
Doing special only applies to special that is special on that piece you are making, excluding specials added by components like scales and others. They are added in the end and is not counted as part of the the armor until the end.
Short answer: You cant experiment a special up frem an added layer or scale except i the value you want to experiment either in the armors base or special.
Example is ubese that has kin as special and therefore adding a kin layer and experimenting special makes kinetic resist higher.
On a comp you would be experimenting base to get the special kinetic higher (please correct me if im wrong guys)
