Thread: Quick Armor Question
what exactly do the different protections do? what does kinetic protect against and some of the others (such as electricity etc.)?
thanks
Not sure of all of them, maybe a beta armorsmith can chime in.
I do know that kinetic is physical though
Most of them are straight forward... sort of.
Energy protects against blasters. Kinetic is what protects against physical/hand-to-hand damage like brawling. Electrical would protect against things like Lightning guns. Acid against acid stream launchers... things like that. Some creatures probably have attacks based on some of these kinds of damages.
Anything listed under Vulnerabilities does is not protected against. Notice Kinetic is here in bone armor. Thats why bone doesnt help against critters biting you. Mabari is better for that... though... very ugly.
I just bought a composite helmet. my first piece of composite armor. when i try to equip it, it says that im not healthy enough. my HAM are 1000, 900, and 805
what do i need to be healthier?
You need to ajust your HAM bar's so you can wear it, you can do this by going into your Stat Migration and see wich one is to low and ajust it accordingly.

Yeah its easy to see..
Open the "character" window (4th icon from left in the button bar)
Now "examine" your composite helm.. at the bottom of the display will be 3 "costs" (encumbrances)
the numbers are Health, Action and mana but they do not refer to the red/blue/green bars they instead take from your SECONDARY stats (stamina, quickness, focus, willpower, strength and consititution)
If equipping a piece of armor would reduce any of these below 0 you will not be able to wear that item (without spice/doctor or food buffs)
A simple example:
Say your encumbrance on the helm says 100 action, 100 health and 300 mind
but when you look at your character sheet it shows that you only have 150 focus and 150 willpower, you will need to either get a food buff, spice buff or medical doctor buff to enable wearing the helmet OR you will need to "migrate" some of your primary stats lower so that your secondary stats go higher (this takes a while to happen in realtime IIRC someone else can answer that part of the question much better than myself)
