Thread: Advertising question

Advertising III gives you place on the map. That means when I look at map, expand vendors, click type they pop, clikc one I see wehre it is? What about when passing trough town aand looking at Ctrl-M map, I thought all vendors show on Map but appereantly not - is that Advertising III skill too?

No. When you have Advertising IV there is an option of the Vendor Control menu that is "Register Vendor" this registers it with the global map under the category you select.

When you register a vendor it will show on the overhead ctrl-m map. You have to register each vendor for them to show. I have 3 vendors but only on registered, so only one shows up on the overhead map. Hope that helps.

Uh, still lost - how do you registera vendor? You mean initilize?

Ok, So I've been a MAS for a few months now and just came into enough resources to turn out good quality sets of armor (80% kinetic/electric, 66% base medium HAM, 80 kin/elec, 4% stun, 71% base heavy suits, 76/77% kinetic, 26% base ubese, plus some 80% blast/electric suits) and I've been posting to my galaxy's trade forums about the new stuff as well, but not a thing has sold.
Am I not doing enough advertising? How should I advertise? I really don't want to become one of the afk spammers or a spammer with a droid in Coronet or Theed or where have you, or steal other AS's customers purposefully, etc etc, but it's becoming hard to make a profit without loot hunting. In fact, that's how I have to fund my entire business at the moment.
So my question is, how can I get armor to sell yet still keep good business practices? I don't want to be "The" best, there's plenty of amazing armorsmiths on my server (Skinny, Makkir, Darvell), but I'd like to keep a nice steady income and know people are actually using my stuff and liking it.
Ideas?

I think that word of mouth has been the best for my armor sales. But prices, being consistently stocked, being in a good location, all of these things matter. My shop is in a town right by Fort Tusken which helps with a stream of customers, but I also have customers that come from far away. I make alot of wookiee hunting, and that group definitely operates by word of mouth. The nice thing is I get composite customers who are friends with wookiees too, who had heard that I was the place to go to.
Maybe make a few showier items and sell them on the trade forums. Try making some very nice PvP composite (if you are 12 point), or run a big sale. Or auction off some sliced armor, all of these things help with exposure. I get alot of business from people that sell me organics, and I buy alot of organics from "the little guy", i.e. someone who comes in with 2k units etc. These people will love you forever.
