Hi Okram2k (or any other type person who can enlighten me on this question),

3. Make Combat Feel More like Star Wars

•Look and Feel

  • Added new faction armor – four new armor sets.
  • New weapon balance makes all the Star Wars weapons usable in combat
  • Stormtrooper armor is now viable in combat – wear it with pride!

Is there any chance in the Outer Rim that Armorsmith might get to craft this new armor? I'm guessing we won't.

Thanks,

Renea,

With the combat upgrade, and all the stuff they are talking about doing, i don't see how they could possibly do the CU without an Armorsmith and Weaponsmith Revamp. To add weapons that do different types of damage, and to need armor that resists different types of damage, and also have no "best" armor or "worst" armor, as they have stated. I like what's going on, this isn't a complaint, but i wish they'd just come out and say "To do the combat upgrade right we are going to have to Revamp WS and AS".

from what I have heard it isn't set in stone yet, and not sure if it will be adressed in CU or GCW revamp if we will be able to craft faction armor, but I am really hoping and pushing that we do.

Alot of the people left on SWG are hard-core fans. If Stormtrooper armorwas viable, I think most Imperial players would opt to use it for PvE or mild PvP. Faction points are relatively easy to get.I'm all for getting rid of the composite clones, but viable is a very vague term.

I am also a master fencer (PvE orientation.) Personally I use 65% base low-ham armor. I really don't see any difference from using 85-90% sliced heavy armor (except fora stun baton beat-down by NPCs.) This is because of the context of the combat system. 65% is not 90%, but it is still viable for PvE with buffs or PvP with first strike.

I know it's really early in the development of the CURB, and that everything will change, and the players lack alot of information. However, under the scenario above, it is possible that our profession could be severely crippled by these changes. Especially true if gloves/boots now becoming meaningless (see 01/20/05 Stratics chat.) I'd hate to see the Armorsmith become a glorified tailor who has two niches: 1). low-end PvE armor for new/unfactioned players, 2). high-end PvP for advanced players. That's really leaving a big gap in the middle where I produce most of my armor.

I beleive that I read a post by TH that said we are getting an armor overview sometime this week. So that may give us a few clues about where our profession is going. Being a new armor smith with sales of under 4 mil thus far I am looking forward to these new changes and such. I think it will be hard for one armorsmith to be the best at all the differant kinds that will be availible. But not impossible either.
