*BountyGreg* Combat Revamp Question: I read the stats for species will change, does it mean trandos will finally be able to wear complete armor?

Keldarin: Trandoshans cannot physically wear boots due to the size of their feet and that won't be changing. We do recognize the game-play impact of this however and will be removing feet and hand as valid hit locations in combat. Armor will not longer be needed in those areas to be fully effective.

*MRCommando* Combat Upgrade Question - The new armor, how is it being made that low-level armor is useful again?

Keldarin: So we've completely reworked the armor system from the ground up. No longer are specific suits of armor going to have set protection ratings.

Keldarin: When a suit of armor is crafted the armor crafter will have a much greater control on what the suit looks like while keeping the stats the same.

Keldarin: This means that you will be able to have low-level as well as high-level powerful armor with any appearance.

Not sure, can't really say as I am really excited about the first question. I'll save any comments about that until I get more information, but it doesn't sound that good.

Second question is a bit vague, but definately more interesting.

Any thoughts community?

theres not that much info but i really dont like it.........If every suit of armor can be made at a high resistance why struggle with hunting for all those resources to make kashyyyian hunting armor when you can make the ceremonial armor eazy......of course with all armors...some are harder to make(take more resources) and others don't......i also think that noone will wear hand and feet armor!!!why bother it will becrease your HAM and give you no protection!!!!!

guess we will have to wait and see but so far i really dont like the looks of it

gotta see what they are doing with the faction armor as well

*Quantix* Alright, Combat Revamp! The question I am going to ask to make sure is the reconversion question. Along what lines are things going to be converted? Like for instance, just combat skills? Things such as crafting, Investigation line of BH, and Smuggler slicing should not be allowed to be gained during the conversion. Also Jedi were promised a reconversion and told later no. A lot of the old timers like me are frustrated

Keldarin: Character respec with Combat Upgrade will only be for skills that are significantly impacted by the CU. You will be able to respec combat skill and not crafting or other non-combat skills.

From the little information we have, it looks like WS/AS profession will be heavily affected. I think a respec should at least be on the table forWS/AS(not like I haven't ground 26 professions already, but I did so while always being an armorsmith.) Ihope that the CURB, in general, takes into consideration of all affected professions. I think it will.We know that the "nerf bat" going tocome our way... one way or another...but we also know that this "nerf" should be taken in the context of the new system and not by what is in existancecurrently. So we're all cool with this.

Still, this statement could be indicative of an oversight on the part of the developers due to the large amount of work required to revamp the combat professions. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only armorsmith who is a bit aprehension regarding the CURB.

I'm not gonna quit the game if the AS profession is "nerfed". However, the (potiental) new changes, combined with previous issues might push me closer to the edge of finding something else to do with my skill points.

  • Mass proliferation of non-armor using population (Jedi)

  • Merchant requirements (single account armorsmith)

  • Scout requirement (single account armorsmith)

  • Non-crafted "viable" faction armor (CURB)

  • Gloves/Boots non-functional (CURB)

  • Having to manage 10 times more resources for non-composite armor (CURB)

I'm not complaining at all, I am fully prepared to do something else with my skill points. Just trying to get some discussion happening.

why dont they just add layering options to the lower level armors?! wham, there you go, viable non-comp gear.

The lower level armors still have way to many vulns. Think about interwoven bone. It accepts 2 layers and really who wears it for combat with 80% Energy (possible) and xx Electric and - for kinetic, stun and blast? No one, its not even close to shoddily crafted comp.

I'm not crazy about the response to the first question. I would have prefered that they made trandos invuln in the hands and the feet. I can't imagine we'd lose more business that way. Its not like everyone's gonna go trando. Even with that kind of advantage I doubt we'd see surge of lizardmen/women in game.

It's still just speculation, but I don't have anything else to do at the minute. I had this nightmare when I took a nap...

Almost sounds like there is just one type of armor and you can choose theappearance (and perhaps resources used based on appearance.) The CURB is definately going to dramatically changeour profession.
