Thread: future armor smith

Hi every1 first of all i wanted to say all the info i got here was extremly helpfull (gotta lov sticky's 
)
)but i do have some Questions for all you Armor Smiths 
After playing SWG for over a year i finally decided to go into the crafting proffession
and i choose Armor Smith , it was a close call with Weaponsmith
but the making of armor did apeal more
now i have been looking around and been reading a lot about lvl-ing trough the lvls from
novice till master
i was told i need to start with AUK and then swap to Mabari Chestplates
now the thing i would like to ask you is , is the really the best way or are there different ways
and what would be better if there are different ways
i am just kinda looking for that little bit of info to get started
also what do most armorsmiths think with the upcoming Combat Upgrade seeing TH posted
that factional armor will become usefull , would that make the Armor smith prof less involved
or do you still think it will be a big part of the game
generally i am looking for a bit of all round advice 
for every1 who will respond , i would like to thank you in advance

It really depends on how you want to skillup. Many choose a grinding route to which Armour Upgrade kits up until the ability to create Ubese Shirts then those until you master. But if you have the various resources to hand just creating armour can be more fun and you get a feel for the craft to boot.
Gloves are usually easiest to create as they usually take 1 segment which can be hand crafted and doesn't need a factory crate.
But this is just my opinion I dare say others will have different ones.

I'm sure I'll get a lot of crap for this, and I'm sure that a lot of people would disagree, but try to level up armorsmith without grinding at all. You can make some good experience with crafting Mabari suits (in nice colors) and wearing em, getting hit a little, and selling whole suits on the bazaar for reasonable prices. You'll find it a lot more fun than grinding, and you'll also learn how to properly craft armor from the beginning. Make friends with tailors, preferably newer ones, or maybe pick up some tailoring skills for yourself, and that will help too. There are way too many people who just hate "the grind", and if it's so sucky, why do it? This is a game, and it's meant to be enjoyed, and not just mastered. You'll find armorsmithing a lot more satisfying, and appreciate becomming a master more when you get to experience your slow improvment in the profession. Armorsmithing is really an art, and it's not just about how high resists you can get, or making the lightest composite. Color scheming, armor mix and match, and overall usefulness in combat all come into play. Anyway, you chose this profession because you think you'll enjoy it. If it ever becomes something that you don't enjoy... check yourself, your aspirations, inspirations, make a change, and have fun.

Armor is an art form , i was one of those who just hammered the grind and i was a MAS with no more knowledge than a novice.
Then after 2 weeks of wasting alot of expensive reosources, Persephoni on Bria (Medusa armor,Supreme Master Armor Crafter if there ever was one) sat down and spent all kind of time explaining things and help me.
Learn what armors are at base, make a set of gloves for everything with no layers to see what they all do and what your baseline resists are for everthing. Avoid the grind if you can, i wish i had done it that way and saved myself lots of grief and crappy armor runs.This way you are also not a 1 type smith, asthere are lots of smiths that can make composite and thats it. Not a clue how to make other armors.The CU is scary becuase it seems and sounds (from rumors of course) that different class will use different armor types and being a 1 type smith is gonna hurt you if this is true. If its not then knowing the basics of other types can always be helpful for that odd custom suit request you are gonna get.
Armorsmith is one of the few crafters that can be totally self reliant with only your basic 10 lots so its a good crafter profession to learn, if your a 1 toon player.

Yea marabi chesplates are the easiest but its a pain, if you dont mind too much clicking ubese shirts is hte easiest

I can't agree more with the non grinders.
I once wrote a non grinding guide to Armorsmith. Although it never was a sticky I think it is valuable non the less.
