Thread: Any value to having the Artisan skill higher than 4-0-0-0 for AS?

Originally (as in, last time I played around 18 months or so ago) I thought that the experimentation points would be useful, but either I was wrong or it changed and is now "Artisan Experimentation" in the Artisan boxes.

Does these mean that there is no advantage (other than the extra schematics) to having Master Artisan for an Armorsmith?

I was intending to go from:
Master Artisan / Master Weaponsmith / Master Armorsmith
to:
Artisan 4-0-0-0 / Master Weaponsmith / Master Armorsmith / Master Droid Engineer

My girlfriend has a Master Artisan char, so I don't lose the ability to get any components needed by that skill.
Is this a wise plan?

No, no advantage other than the additional schematics.

well you need xx4x to be able to get merchant so that you can sell your wares, and xxx4 is needed to survey to find spots to drop harvs. but as far as actual benefits to the AS profession itself, 4000 is all you need.

Yeah, I was just coming back to say that myself. Nothing beyond 4XXX affects armor, but it can sure affect your business.

to make psg you need schematics from master Artisian.

Tailor skills can help to if you want to make your own Fiberpanels and Synthcloth.

Thanks for the feedback guys


I don't need to worry about other Artisan items as my gf is Master Tailor/ Master Artisan / Master Merchant, and she can run me off schematics whenever I need and will take care of the vendors in the tent we will set up.


The spare skill points I would probably drop into Surveying & Scout Exploration so he can walk around with Mask Scent.

TBH I will be happy to not see so many draft schematics I will never use in the list too!

Really you only need xx3x to get a vendor, and xxx0 to survey (since you can survey at novice artisan, but for short distances). And x1xx is also good to be able to make all those fiberplast panels you will need.
