Im thinking about picking up armorsmith to make some extra cash... but im not sure what to do for materials.. I was wondering what kind of materials i need for composite, and how much of that I need to stock up for before i can start making armor.

Too many to list, especially if you include layers and segments and such.

Hit the schemtics list on http://www.allakhazam.com and look it up for yourself.

Word of advice..........................if thats the only reason don't bother. You'll quit in a week. You're better off getting a master combat profession and doing Rancor Missions.

Armorsmith is not something you just "pick up." It takes months to get good spawns (or any spawn) of the resources you need. If you really want to do it read this forum for a while and look over swgcraft.com.

Word of advice, armorsmithing requires time and dedication, without those don't bother.
