Didn't want to post this in the sticky just because i'm not sure how visibile it is, i'm going to try and contact an armorsmith that does RIS asap but i'm going out to try and loot or buy the final components today. I basically would like to get all of the segments made to finish off that part and possibly make one of the armor peices now, and have another armor peice made each time I loot a GDK scale (since that could be well over a month per, depending on luck).
What I understand to be true:
*RIS is vulnerable to acid and stun - these protections, if added, will use up two layer slots and thus lower the overall base I can acheive without some exceptional components.
*Using three 9% ns layers and one yellow 3% geo cube should reach 80% base with a 12 point smith, even if a NS shard is used for the enhancer.
What I am aiming for:
*80% base across the board, no stun and acide protection
*Lowered ham via a nice string of NS shards if if the above is possible without needing a janta hide here.
About factories:
*I will need 2 interwoven RIS segment schematics (what ive heard, but why? Arent they 5 use each?) to do two factory runs, and i'll need 6 of each loot componentg for the first run of 5 and 5 of each for the second run of 4.
And would be appreciated

If you have all the loots for 9 segments right now, and what do factory runs of them, you'd only need 1 Interwoven schematic, and you would use 1-2 uses of that, depending on how many of the same serial # loots you have.

Well i've finally made up my mind, lol, and here's what i've got:
For the helmet (which I want made first, I need to reward myself for the hard work and see what base I can get with these)
3 9% NS layers
1 -32 mind shard
1 3% yellow cube
And what i'll attempt to get for the next 8 peices is:
6 strings of 5 9% NS layers
2 strings of 5 yellow cubes, as high % as possible
2 strings of really nice overall -encumbrance shards, low encumberance and high base are the two goals ive decided on. I'm not worried about stun/acid resists and i've deicided my set won't have them.
So that will mean 1 hand crafted and 2 factory runs, hopefully no crit fails and only one schematic needed. Not a big deal if I need another schematic, just a pain cause I gotta go camp the acklay for it
And Tuanga I emailed you although it was kinda a hectic email, i'm going over this in my head so much its driving me nuts! I'm basically ready to have the helmet made and then i'll keep looting towards having the stuff to factory run the segments. After that its GDK hell until the end.

I'm not sure you'll hit 80% kinetic / 80% base with the materials you're planning to use.
I made a helmet a few days ago for a customer. Used three 8% Nightsister layers, a 3% cube, and a 4% Janta hide. With 11 points the final assembly ended up at 80% base, 70% kinetic. All great successes, no amazings(15.0 tool, 43.4 station, research center, and BE Bespin port bedamned).
With three 9% layers, a 3% cube, and a shard you're looking at a total base enhancement 1% less than I was working with. I've not yet looked at the resources on Bloodfin, but I'm using the best Shadowfire has to offer and they look good versus the gates I've seen on these resources.
A 12-point 'smith could get you slightly higher, but I don't think it'll buy you the 10% on base you'll likely need. I may be an 11-pointer, but I've made 14 pieces of RIS, andknow exactly where I need to be on %'s in the segment to hit my targets on final assembly-a 12-pointer with less experience will likely waste a point or two on segment experimentation.
My advice - dump the shards and find some very nice Janta hides.

Well we decided to go with a knetic layer and the two 9% hides and a 4% cube, the idea is to aim for a decent base and still have good knetic, and i'll have the armor sliced. I may go with a nice janta hide instead of a shard if I can get ahold of one by tonight when the helmet is getting made.

Why does everyone say Janta hides? Are Rancor hides some well-kept secret, in that they up the base like janta, but also add integrity?

i think rancor hides only go in padded armor

No, there are 2 separate things. Rancor Segments go into padded armor; Rancor Hides do not, and not only do they add to the base, they add to integrity, and kick in extra heat and cold protection.
Say, anyone know anything other than a Krayt that drops a seg enhancer that gives acid protection?

Moving things to special protection makes them unsliceable. Also, ranor hides add a small amount to the encumbrance. Not a secret, just inferior to Janta hide IMHO.
