You needmany factories. Making armor takes a lot (A LOT) of time. First you need to make layers, then make segments and then finally produce the armor pieces. I'm not a big smith but I guess you need several factories, at least while producing the stock. It depends though on how fast you want your stock done.

With good planning you could reduce the number needed.

About harvies. You need plenty... as in +10 lots(preferably more). Be aware that it will take months to build a good stockpile of the resources needed to make quality armor. You need just about every inorganic resource type you need. Depending on how many diffrent armor types you are gonna make you need a big selection of resources. Armorsmithing is very resource heavy.

I started my armorsmith career in november. I had some resource from before but I had 16 harvesters working nonstop for close to a month. Now it slowed down and I got a OK stock of resources. Now I can just go out and get what I realy need, like a new quality Iron or something.

I got close to 50 harvesters in my warehouse, about 10 of each type. This way I can cover most situations. I have 3 accounts so it helps. If you don't have several accounts or friends that can help out you can always buy resources. I tend to keep away from this, since I like to do my own work so to say.

On top on everything there is the hides needed. Otherwise you buy this for a lot of credits or hunt for yourself. Might be hard to hunt your own stuff if you are gonna become big. I'm in a guild which helps... sometimes we go hunting what I need.

Armorsmithing is great fun but be prepared to spend a lot of time with it.

2 or 3 factories for production should get you by fine. Harvestors depends on how much you want to drop down at a time. Some minerals/chemicals you want to drop down as many harvestors as you have lots for. But I am a resource horder *shrug*

yeah its very possible to run a successful business with only 10 lots. but you have to be able to be able to manage what you need and use often.

myself i have 9 clothing/armor factories, 4 equipment factories, and 4 houses. to top it off im a resource hoarder. at last count i think i had approximately 100 million units of resources. give or take a few millions.

remember focus on building a customer base first. You need to put the effort in from the word go, that means collecting resources, to putting in time (alot of time) experimenting to come up with the best items you can make. Don't try to go full out Microsoft esq plans of total domination. Instead do some research into what sells on your server and follow those trends start small and gradually increase, even take a peek at what other smithy's are making. Most important is don't let your ego get the better of you stay close to your customer base it pays off in the end.

Since being in combat profs since I started (launch), I am thinking of switching gears and going into crafting. I am not looking to be THE armorsmith on my server, just someone that makes great armor at a great price. I am not interested in pumping out 200 suits a day.

What would be the number of harvies and factories I would need to make, at most 100 suits of armor or so every couple weeks?

Insights and other advice is much appreciated!
