Hi there, I'm just starting out in AS and I was wondering about layers.
If I get x1xx and gain the ability to make kinetic layers, will this work in any type of armor (ie mabari or bone) or just certain types?

i dont believe you can use layers in the lower armors. you can drop enhancements into some. I know they work in Padded, Ubese, and Comp. not sure about Chitin and Tantel. i never tried

Definetly you can put layers in Ubese, Padded, and Composite. I can't remember if Tantel takes them, I don't think so.
Also, becareful on using them in your armor. If an Armor that can take layers has only a base or vulnerability to Kinetic damage and you put kinetic protect layer in it, when you go to experiment on the special protection of that armor the kinetic protection will not move. Only the armor's natural special protection.
i.e., you make an armor segment with energy as its special protection and kinetic as a vulnerability and you put a kinetic layer in it and then use that segment in a piece of armor and the kinetic resist percentage is let's say 8%. When you experiment on the Special protection of the armor the energy resist will increase but the kinetic protection will stay at 8%.
So even though you are adding a protection to an armor that it had a vulnerability to the protection is not much. You might feel then that you have wasted time and resources making such armor. It is clearly up to you and what your customers want in how you make your armor.

tantel segements can take at least one layer, can't remeber exactly how many tho, ubese - 1 layer, padded - 2 layers, and comp - 3 layers.
