i have a few questions on Krayt Enhanced Comp armor, and bear in mind i am not an armorsmith so dont flame me too much if i make a boo boo hehe

Basically i bought 4 pieces last night, All stats were under special protection Except for stun which was a vulnerability which is fine for what im using it for. Basically i want to buy a Full Set, i own the helmet, leggings, gloves and boots. I know i need Krayt Comp Segments, which i know of 2 vendors on my home server that sell them for a fair/reasonable price, but all have different stats etc, but the pricing on them is straight forward and i can tell by the 100,000 credit pieces which are better obviously. WHAT should i be looking for as far as stats and ballpark pricing on it. I paid 800k for the 4 pieces which may have been a little high but they all have 65+ Special Protections which i like. Any help / rants on this topic would help me out alot

Another off base question, what is needed to make these segments, obviously an armorsmith, and i am assuming a bio-engineer to get the krayt samples? correct? it seems like a great easy way to make money, my next holo is bio-engineer and alot of people told me theyve done it for their holocron and ended up liking it so much they went back to it to make money. Any Ideas? Also is high experimentation required to make exceptional segments/krayt armor or can any good armorsmith make some? Appreciate the help

OH ALSO! how many segments are required perpiece of compositeso i know what to buy, take it to my armorsmith on my server and say "build away"

You actually want krayt scales rather than segments to make armor like what you already have. The scales are added to crafted armor segments and give bonuses above what the normal crafted segement would be. This is good, except that they shift everything to special protections and thus make them unslicable. If you get a ham slice and want low enc armor, this is still a good thing, but heavy pvpers tend toprefer eff-sliced composite to get close to or acheive the 90 base ceiling.

The segments will produce armor with no special protections rather than all special protections. A good armorsmith on Ahazi can make adv comp segs that are 35 base resist. This prodecues composite in the 70-71 base range. If you want to do the same with krayt segments, you would want 35ish segments or better...

The number required is a bit tricky as each piece requires identical segments - here is a breakdown to give you an idea

chest - 4

helm, legs - 3 each

bracers, biceps, boots - 2 each

gloves - 1

So, if you happened to have 21 identical segs (not possible) , or a breakdown of lots that matched this profile exactly, you would only need 21 segments for a full suit. Of course, there is a good chance that the smith will get at least one crit fail, so I recommend going with extra.

Edit: Both scales and segments are loot drops from krayt dragons. An armorsmith needs no resources above what they already have to use krayt segments or scales to make enhanced armor.

As stated above, they are loot drops. Being a BE will not help you at all in this endeavor.

ah that clears things up well for me many thanks. What is the real advantage here of this armor then? does special protection give some sort of added bonus over base protection? if that makes sense lol.

I wanted to mention that above all the segments listed youll need an extra scale with matching serial numbers.(So 1 for the schematic and 4 for the segments for one chest plate) since composite armor requires segments from a factory crate (except gloves) I hope this made sense, im very tired..newborn baby at home.

ah i understand fully, so 1 to make a schematic and 4 for the actual run of the items, so 5 needed gotcha.

Again Also for anyone, what is the advantage of this armor, Is it better to have ALL special protection rather than the items under base effectiveness, i understand that they cant be sliced if its special protection, but what is the difference? Someone told me from what i understood, is that lets say its 60% electricity and 60% kinetic, you will get 60% reduction on hits from that, then everything else under base effectiveness is a different damage reduction? he didnt know the "formula" for it, is this true? thanks again

The biggest advantage to Composite made with Krayt segments is it's low encumbrance.

At this time there is no advantage for special protections. It's my understanding that special protections are 'supposed' to offer added protection against armor piercing damage.

Personally I love composite armor made with Krayt Segments. But my customers don't like the 43% resists regardless of the encumbrance.
