Ok so here is the question. I have been a Master Armorsmith for some time and I now have Master Smuggler. What do you guys think should I slice the stuff before I sell it as the customers are just going to go out and get it sliced anyway?

And if I did slice it should I raise the price or keep it the same? I charge for the segments now so it would mean I have to revamp my pricing structure and what it would be not sure. What I charge is this.

60k for Gloves.
80k Composite boots/Bracers/biceps
125k for Helm/legs
150k for chest

I’m just trying to get an idea form other smiths out there see what there doing and if they found it’s a good or bad deal to do.

Sold some sliced Chest plates:

80% acid 78% elctric 89% base 285/?/? for 400k. Gone within an hour. Holding onto my 3 90% base plates.

I always prefer my armor presliced, but I also have an unsliced vendor for others.

Encum doesn't sell right now so I do it like this.

Arms/Boots- Encum 50/50/50 + and 79% or less base for 60k

Arms/Boots- Encum below 50/50/50 70k

Arms/Boots- Base 80%- 84% 100k

Arms/Boots- Base 85% + 110k (89% and 90% are held for special orders and can go from 200k- 500k each)

Chest- Encum 200/*/* + and 79% or less base for 80k

Chest- Encum 190-200 for 90k

Chest- Encum below 190 for 100k

Chest - Base 80-84% 110k

Chest- Base 85-88% 250k

Chest - Base 89% 400k (90% are held onto for special orders but could easily sell for 1 mil each)

Leg/Helm- Moderate encum slice and base to 79% for 70k

Helm- Mind slice190- 200- 100k : 170-180 - 110k : 160 200k (Only the helm sells good encum sliced)

Leg- Action slice 140 and below- 100k

Helm/Leg- base 80-84% - 100k

Helm/Leg- base 85-87% -110k

Helm/Leg- base 88-89% -200k (90% saved for special orders)

Makes sense in my head. FYI- I'm the cheapest on my server for high grade armor, and the other smiths hate me for it. I forced a reduction in cost on high grade armor.

A single suit costs me 110k to make with the current cost of the resources I use. Granted, I did not pay that much for the stuff, but that is current market value.

Oh, and gloves

All encum sliced and 79% or less base is 40k and anything above 79% goes for 50k

I personally hate slicing armor. I very rarely get what i want. Normally if somebody wants something sliced in armor, I sell them a crate of helmets or chest plates and they can do their own slicing. I give them a nice price on the armor. If it doesn't work out for them, they always can sell the pieces they dont like. Works out well for all parties involved.

As a Master Smuggler, I know that everyone wants their armor sliced. Especially composite. It's almost a requirement for that stuff. And as an aspiring weaponsmith, I am curious how some people would price pre-sliced armor.

Let's assume a standard price of 200 credits per percentage improvement. It's kind of low for our work, but it's fairly standard now. Let's also assume that by some fluke of the RNG, that all nine pieces of the armor came out to be 35% encumbrance slices. Your lucky day, huh? If someone had these (VERY improbable) slices made on their own, they would have paid 63,000 credits to the slicer, in addition to the price of the armor from the smith.

However, since we all know that slicing is streaky as hell, and you can't predict what's going to happen, most likely 5 of those 9 slices are going to be effectiveness, and most will be in the 20s somewhere.

Now, by selling pre-sliced armor, you could simply take the price of the armor and add the rpice of the slice onto it. But, there's another thing to take into consideration. Pre-sliced armor gives the customer something they don't have with a slicer: choice.

They are able to shoose the pieces with the encumbrance and resist they want. And they don't have to buy multiple suits of armor to do it. That alone is worth extra credits. Also factor this into the price. You've taken a chance and made it a sure thing.

I had a guildmate tell me that he would ratherpay 30k to be able to choose the slice on an item than 200 credits per % on a random roll. Take this into account on your armor as well.

Assuming a base price of 500k for a suit of composite (fairly standard now on Starsider from what I've seen), and with some great slices, you'd probably be able to raise the price 200-300k on the full suit and sell for 700-800k.

Those are my feelings. It goes off the belief that most smugglers vastly undervalue their skillsin making permanent improvements on items. Others may think differently.
