Thread: Idea for + experimentation

As a boon to tailors and to BE, how about suggesting and expansion to the craftable (not from quest/looted schematic) + items in the same manner as the skill tapes. Right now BE can make some + to a limited number of things which can be added to cloth for tailored items. However, the things for + are pretty dern limited (CH stuff, a few scout/ranger things, DOT protection, and medical and entertainer stuff) and frankly not all that useful to a full range of people (I have 1 vs bleed shirt and I rarely wear it... I don't often get into situations where I bleed). If they added crafting bonuses to the things which tailors (by using BE stuff) can enhance, it would be ideal. They added crafting bonuses (sorta) to chef foods, so why not?

because then everyone would be a 12pt smith, and tailors would be really rich

it would make AS an evne harder profession to break into

dont see how that could happen.

it wouldnt make tailors rich because it would be more common. and it would make armorsmith easier to break into

now that i read it again, your right, it would make exp less expensive, take away some afk skilltape looters, and make AS a little easier for new smiths to become competitive

It's a horrible idea!

As previusly stated. This would make everyone a 12p smith, rasing the bar for everyone.

After a week everyone would EXPECT you to be 12p and your armors to have the corresponding quality. As it is, a 12 pointer can make huge bucks concentrating on customorders and truly High End armors while the 10p's supply the base majority with standard armors.

As is it, the diffrence in exp-point, resources and devotion creates diffrent niches withing our proffesion. And an idea like this would lessen the diversity within the craft.

Agreed on it being a rough idea.

I paid close to 40 million for my 12 pts. Yes, it is ludicrous, but I bought in so I could focus on elite armour. That idea would de-value the idea of being a 12 pt AS.

The only real barrier to being an AS is your stockpile. As a previous post stated, if you dont have 12 pts, sell lower quality armour for a cheaper price than the elite grade stuff. fill a niche that is often underfilled and make some good money.

I believe the AS status quo is working quite well. Being a master AS over many months actually has pay off.

The + wouldn't have to go to the max of the what the tapes could bring. But since the tape wars are so... well... heated.. and they don't actually promote anything other than AFK 3rd party app macroing. Heck, to make it difficult (but not impossible), make a necessary ingredient something that drops from a high level whatsis, but not the schematic(s). Make it so they can't be made en-masse, but that -crafters- can make them and not something which 3rd party app AFK exploiters loot. The Bat cave no longer supports those AFKers so maybe they are looking for a way around it.

I have also heard rumor, dunno if it is substantiated at all or just the whinings of someone who couldn't afford them, that some +12 point masters will buy up + tapes just because they want to prevent any more +12 masters from competing with them and they have more pixel money than anyone else so they can do it. Yes, that is their right, I am not disputing it.

The price in plus items has raised to more than ludicrous. On Kettemoor, a +7 belt at auction sold for 17.5 mil about a week ago and a +3 tape at auction sold for 10 mil. If you add the 2 and divide, each point is approximately 3 mil. This means the price of 20 points is about 60 mil (or more... Kettemoor is not the most expensive server, I think). I am -not- whining about the cost (or even about a 12 point master buying tapes to prevent others from getting them since I have no idea if that is happening), I just wish there was an alternative which was open to -all- and not a select few.

There has been a lot of comment made on the ability for someone to enter the market, + items would be good for all, not jsut the masters who have amassed wealth.

Oh... and yes, I would love the increase in quality of my armor which I would pass on to my customers. Ironically, I would likely drop my prices some if I got the tapes, not to drive out competition, but because I would no longer need to save up for tapes. I still wouldn't be auctioning my wares to the highest bidders or mass producing suits to sell at ridicolous prices 'cause pixel money doesn't mean a hill of beans to me. It's not going to pay any bills or buy any groceries. Armorsmithing, crafting, is a fun challenge to me, how can I tweak this to make that better, and all that.

add to everything else the fact we Armorsmiths got shafted on the crafting apron/belt front, the main point here is that the armorsmith skill tapes are TOO rare, over-inflating the price. They could double, even triple the drop rate on them and barely notice the difference because it's so low now.

The only problem here, is it's very difficult to balance this idea.. either you make the skill tapes way to easy to obtain, or you have them use some specialty item that's just as hard, if not harder, to get than the skill tape itself.

plain and simple, the simplest solution is for them to just up the drop rate on skill tapes in other locations (no more cave camping) so that instead of being next to impossible to get these tapes, it simply becomes hard to get them.
