Thread: Janta hides and NS layers
But an 18% segment (3 X 5% NS layers + 1 3% janta hide) isn't very good is it? When talking to my AS friend I believe she said the segments she makes are between 28 and 32. And if those are making 69% base comp, wouldn't the NS and janta loot lower the base?
That 28-32 is generally with the special protection.
To break it down, your friend probably makes 4% base layers, so compare those to your 5% layers. When making a segment, you start with the base stat (18% in your case), but can experiment it up.
So you'd generally get 3% extra because the layers are 1% more each, plus 3% for your janta hide, totallinga 6% base increase using your components, but it would be MUCH lighter, so probably a very nice piece of armor assuming you get an effectiveness slice.
For example: I have a 12pt MAS friend who can make 80% elec, 8% (I believe) stun, and a base of 69% with current resources. I have several NS layers in the bank, the better ones are 5% base and -9 action.
Now, do these NS layers take the place of other layers (ie no stun layer)? and if so, does that mean I would end up with 80 elec, 74% base?
I am trying to decide if they are good to use for PvP armor-- my main objective is to have it sliced for effectiveness. Stun isn't a priority as I will be using this for hunting jedi, but it would be nice to have if they have bodyguards with them.
The other thing is Janta hides. I don't have any of these yet, but was planning on hunting for them soon. I was wondering what stats you look for as far as improving the base effectiveness.
Also, can Janta hides and NS layers be used in conjunction with each other?
Thank you in advance for your imput =)

Not going to go into Layers, but you're pretty close on that. NS would be a lot lighter than his two Stun Layers (i'm guessing it's two).
I have two Janta Hides and they're both 3% Base.
Janta Hides and NS Layers CAN be used together, but you have to be using the NS Layers, not NS Enhancements. For Composite, each segment can take 3 Layers and 1 Enhancement. So, if you had 3 NS 5% Base Layers and a 3% Base Janta Hide, that would be +18% Base total instead of whatever your AS is using (which would be 4% Base Layers if he's going for Base, 1-2% Base if he's going for Stun, Elec, etc)
