Thread: I missed the boat...or the point...or something

I've been trolling here for information for some time. I'm a Master Architect, and Weaponsmith, so I have a fair idea on how the quality and experimentation go together. Over the last week, after reaching Master Armorsmith, I took up advise posted elsewhere here & just started playing around, to see what went where, what I will need, what best to experiment on, that sort of thing. As an established Architect, I have a huge supply of resources to tinker with. I didn't plan on selling any of what I made, because I knew it would be sub-par at best. After looking here, I decided to play on Ubese Gloves. Inexpensive to play with, and able to quickly change styles & experimentation to see the various results. And I can't get these over 44%

I have 900 OQ & 850 MA aluminum and chem, 600-900 gems for the Kinetic plates. My Nuetronium is 856 OQ796 MA 832 ST...for that matter, all my materials are over 800 in the important stats already stats posted here. Except the Hides, which are 2-400. I didn't have any expectations on getting close to 70%, but I was really disapointed in 44%, whixh was with 2 amazing's.

So am I missing something here? Some point that everyone knows, except newbie maroons like me? In architecture, a good little trick is Lube Oil in creation. W/S is a great stock, and high OQ, Cond & UT. What, if anything, am I missing here?

Thanks for your time, folks. Any pointers is greatly appreciated.

Yep, you folks are all sharper than me. I didn't even think of looking at the appropriate resources, except that terrible hides. Make sure to get yourself some decent hides- they're really not that hard to find, even though they may cost a bit, but they can make a sizeable difference in the final product.

Making really good armor is all about tweaking the little things. For example, while the difference between hides with a OQ+SR of 200 and ones with an OQ+SR of 900 is only 3 or 4 percentage points of resists, and the difference between 10% and 13% kinetic layers is only 3 or 4 points, when you add up all the little bits here and there you can see some dramatic differences.

Hrrrm... From the sounds of it I don't think resources is where the problem lies...

You mentioned that you couldn't get it over 44%... however that remains a little ambiguous...

Is that your BASE % or your Kinetic %....

My guess is that you have good resources and you are getting a high 44% base to show for it... However when it comes to Ubese... all Experimentations should be going in the bottom row... on your kinetic layer... get it maxed out around 12-14% Kinetic... on your segments, again Max out that bottom row... around 37-38% Kinetic... then once you go to your final assembly, you will hit a 73-74% Kinetic resist on your ubese... (these are my Radiant caps anyways)...

I feel it is worth checking which row you are experimenting...

My money is on the middle row ^ ^

Are you making advanced segments or regular? And are you putting all your points at all three levels into Resistances (the third line)?

Advanced, and all points into resists both in sub-components & final composition.

did you use a kenetic layer in your segment? what were the stats on your kenetic layer and ADV ubese segment?

You stated in the top post that your OQ and MA were high for all the resources. What was your SR. Resists depend on OQ+SR, and encumberance is OQ+MA. If they don't have good SR, you aren't gonna get high resists.

I used Kinetic Segments. I am at work, so I don't have the exact stats(sorry, I realize this doesn't help), but the Kinetic line was 74% on the Kinetic Armor layer.

You mentioned OQ and MA earlier. The important stats for good resists are OQ and SR....50/50.

OQ and MA = HAM 50/50

Your hides need to be high oq+shock as well, they do make up a fair chunk of the final combine.

And as some others have pointed out it's OQ and Shock that are important. Buyers ignore hams most of the time... heck, most buyers are completely ignorant about hams. So consequently you can ignore MA for the most part, if a resources has 900 oq, 900 shock, and 100 ma it's a good armor resource. Not great mind, some few informed buyers actually look at hams, but they are by far in the minority.

Maybe I misread, or the poster I copied from misposted ( I copy & paste to a Notepad at work, so I can experiment once I get home)

Ok, lets leave this on the back burner, I'll come back here after I go home & burn through some more resources

Cool, I'm reporting here for other N00bs like me can gleam from my failures. Last night, I had found a resource vendor with some 880 oq 872 SR AmGems, & bought him out I went back to the shop & using my 998/920 steel, the gems & 940/678 Chem, I made a 14 kinetic layer. I about wet my pants (hey, I have 2 crafting toons, I take my excitement where I can!). I made a schematic, & loaded it and enough material in it for 100 panels ( I wanna experiment more before I run the rest). I got ahold of some 880/840 wooly, I'll post what I make( or break) once the factory spits out some parts. Thanks for the help, folks!
