Thread: Advice on layers needed

What I suggest that you do is...

Make some layers and experiment the base on them all the way... Don't settle for anything less than great successes, you don't need amazings, this is just a test...

So experiment the base all of the way, and then drop the rest into durability... Do this for three layers, a triple layered segment, and then the final combine...

This will spit out a pair of gloves with the maximum Base percentage you can achieve using the resources you currently have...

once you have this then you should look at your kinetic protection, lets say it is at 74%... you will need 6% more resists to make it to the 80% cap...

Then you need to rework your layers... try out a couple of different combinations... you shouldn't need to do final combines to figure out how close you are, simply making a segment should be good enough...

ie. if your first segment is say... 32% base and 12% Kinetic, if you can make one that is 30% base and 20% kinetic, then you Should hit the 80% mark, of course your base will now be 2% lower, but that is almost a secondary consideration...

Well, Give that a shot, and let us know the results... We're here to help out...

Good explanation above. Gloves are definately the way to go.

If your resources are good enough you won't even have to experiment on the special protection of the layer to hit 80%. Even my 67% base composite got to 80% kinetic on the final combine without worrying about the kinetic protection of the layer. It's not even a thought in my mind when I craft 70% base.

It would be so nice if the resources needed to make composite actually existed on starsider... I haven't even made any composite yet

So does that mean adding three kinetic layers of from the same factory crate doesn't add anything or do they add up?

They add up.

I am still relatively new to being an armorsmith, and have yet to make anything with layers, and quite frankly I dont know what kind of stats my layers should have and for what purposes, like, what should the stats for the triple layered composite kinetic layer look like, Do I want to max out the Base? get the kinetic protection high? or do I want low HAM or a combination of the 3? and what is this about the base stacking with the special protection on composite, I cant get any other armor to do this, is this some kind of bug with composite or with all the other armors?

So why work the base instead of the kinetic?

you see, for gloves, you only need 1 composite segment
within the segemtn you dont need ot have the identical layers, so you can hand-make the 3 layers, then handmake the segment

with any other piece of armor, you need at least 2 identical segments, which means factory runs, which takes a long time, espically if you are just testing stuff out
