Over 30% segments I keep. AS kan make about 35% layered, but nice krayt segments are much lighter.

and

over 10% shards can be good if its to a "worth while" res, like acid or kinetic.(if combined with an enc slice later, with an eff slice they are worthless)

Remember that shards can be used in other armor than composite, so they have their uses! It is a very nice method to reach 80% kinetic ubese, the added extra resists into special doesn't matter anyway since the low base is barely sliceable in the first place. Also seems to work well in Kashyyykian for the same reason.

Some fixes on the last post: I meant "scales" of coarse. That's what happens when you are putting together some nightsisterenhanced armor while posting.

You probably get asked a hundred times, but can one of you Armoursmiths help me out and give me an idea of what % are good on these components. My guess is that the scales are always good, but the segments can probably be crafted better against the low end loot. Your experience would be appreciated.

well, as far as the segments go I have seen 10% base ones, which with 10 expirimentation points would yeild you about a 40% or so, and I have seen 19% segments as well which would be about 50% base, I have heard about someone having a 43% base segment which would produce very nice piece of armor, now if only you could find enough of those for a full suit, and the scales, well in my opinion they are not very good, BECAUSE they pull all the listed resistanced into special protection which means they cant be sliced, now I suppose for some already very good composite this can be ok, but I feel that they are better used in low end armors that have alot of vulnerabilities as to remove said vulnerabilities.

Many thanks guys. I think the answer is keep the scales and delete all segments below 30%...

although i think that you should put the Seg < 30% on the bazaar. newer smiths may want to toy around with those and get practice for the nicer segs. plus you can make a little extra cash too

I use them to make gloves because I think gloves take the least amount of damage so I drop my speed tapes in them, the extra life span krayt offers is nice

If anyone throws away any Krayt armor segments I will personally come along and /slap. I love these things. Even the 10%ones can give a 45%set of comp boots that are light as hell and slice well. Just call them something like "Durable Krayt boots" and they'll fly off the vendor. They are quick ot make as well since you don't need to run layers or segments. Shame on anyone who throws these out.
