Best thing to do is to run some experiments on your own (gloves use the least amount of resources) and look at the math while you do the experiments. After awhile, you will start to see how the math relates to the experiments (not just experimentation, different combinations of resources). The beauty of this is that you don't need to run these kinds of math-understanding experiments on the highly expensive Composite but can run them on any of the armor types. Try it with Mabari and use different grades of resources. Practice the gloves unless you want to have a tonne of gloves lying around. But, keep a written record of what you are doing (even the resources and stats you're using) until it starts to all come clear. Then try it again with a different armor, using your notes from the first to start you off.
