first off, great guides, they answered 99% of all the questions I had (thinking about joining the armorsmith ranks) thanx in advance
Myone question that has not been answered is this:
Is Master Artisan recomended (ie do any of the AS schems require, master artisan components)? or would that just be a waste of skill points?
thanx in advance

PSG's need two master artisan items, energy distributer and power conditioner, but as PSG's are a niche market you can get by without. Thats the only thing in master artisan thats used in armorsmithing.
There are several usful things in artisan though. I think its domestic 4 that gives you backpacks, those are very useful for orders. Also artisan experimentation comes half from eningeering and half from domestics, so if you want to make good repair kits yourself you need domestics 4 as well as engineering 4.

I've found surveying helpful at times. You need a couple tailor components in armor as well, reinforced fiber panels and synthetic cloth, and if you're doing wookiee armor, armor padding.

well I'm a master tailor, so the tailor stuff wont be a problem
... and I usually buy my resources (steel, etc) and have one of my alts do the organic collecting. I plan on making this character a Master AS, Master Doc...
