Hello,
I was fortunate enough to be able to do the RIS quest AND craft a few pieces for a freind of mine.
But in reading the RIS post above, i discovered I did something wrong.
I did basic RIS, and it came out 70% base, and only 50% kinetic.
I used 2 kinetic layers in the segment, which came out 28% base 26% kinetic.
I experimented up the base as far as i could and put the rest into bumping the kinetic.
So what did I do wrong on the kinetic front?

First of all, RIS does not experiment up like composite does. You cannot experiment the base % up and also have special protection go up as well.
Most high quality RIS is made using high end NS layers (10%+). It usually now is done also using the interwoven RIS segment schematic. This gives you both a 3rd layer slot, and a place to put a power cube which can add 6% to the base numbers.

yeha to comfort you I make RIS with the normal segment but with ubber Kinetic layers 4% base and 8% kinetic .... I com on my end prodiuct to 80% kinetic and 62% base
Image the RIS pieces in my Sig those are made with 11%+ NS layers up to 20%

I make far too much RIS to put nice NS segs in them all so ill tell you how I do it to maximize base with good kinetic for production RIS
I use 2 kin layers 4+base (91% they cap at 92-93 for me but i sacrifise that 2% to get higher kin) 9% kin
i also use a janta hide the 3% janta hides give me 74%base and the kinetic ranges from 68-79% on these peices depending on how many amazings i get in the process of making the seg and then the peice. If i get all greats along the way i get 68 if all amazings i get 79. 74 is my average
Now is you want 80kin and you might, i usualy go to higher base cause easy slicing to 90% makes for great showpeices, just leave off an extra 2 exp points on the layer leaving you at4.00 base vs 4.64 but giving you an extra 2.24kinetic per layer
This method would leave you sacrificing basicly 1%base for 4.48%kinetic (4 or 5% on final depending on where you are now)
That part is the easy trade off for you since its cost/benifit ratio is very good. However to spend an extra point on kinetic onthe final combine will drop you 2%base so imho not worth it keep capping base there and be happy with your new kineitc%

You can hit 80% kin without any kin layers, however it comes at the cost of your base. Exp up kin all the way in both the segment and then up to 80% on the final piece. Then you can put what you have left in base. Expect your base to drop from 70% to 50% or so. Low kinetic doesn't do you much good, since that is the most common damage type. If you base goes too low though, it isn't much good beyound kin. So if you don't have the great NS layers and interwoven schem, then you can go the 80% kin, low HAM route. It makes the most sense and gives a helmet with a high condition can that be used in replace of a ubese helment. Chitin also looks good with the helmet and can get good kin in the 60%s while being low ham as well.
