Triple Kinetic 10 point:
Layers:
We combine the layers first by maxing out base with 8 points of experimentation, bringing the base Resistance to 4.64, we then throw our remaining 2 points into durability to lower the encumberance slightly. Resulting with a 4% base 4% kin 13 enc layer.
Segment:
Combining the layers into the advanced composite segment we have very good resources and are able to put 9 points into the base, bringing our base score up to a very impresive 35.13, we then put our last point into resistance to bring up the electrical score to 11%
Final Combine:
We put together our suit, 9 points into base quality, 1 point into encumberance the entire way. Our final produt: 69% Base, 80% Kinetic, 80% electricity, and a total suit ham of: 915, 846, 941. A very heavy but very effective suit none the less, very sellable, and very profitable for a starting smith.

Im new to armourcrafting and grinded my way up, now i want to make some good composite. I just set off a run of layers with 2% base and 10% kinetic. do i not need this to get an 80% composite suit??? reading this it looks like the kinetic layers are left at 4% and still achieve 80% kinetic?
can anyone explain it to me
thanks

Depending on resouces you'll probably reach 80% kinetic with your segments, but the base protection on the armor will be very low, probaly around 50%.
If you instead experiment as much you can into base on layers, they'll be 4%Base/4%Kinetic. Then if your resources are good enough the armor will then come out around 68% base and 80% kinetic, which is the way to prefer.
The special resists, in your case kinetic, are added on top of the base resist so to speak.
Experimenting with layers, segments on composite armor are tricky. I suggest you read up as much as possible on this.

Thanks for the reply, the bit that confused me was leaving the layers at 4% and getting 80% kinetic from it, or 10 % and still getting 80 kinetic

4% x 3 layers = 12%, remembering that its not exact (there is a hidden decimal), your segments will probably be 14%. you take 4 x 14% for a chest piece, you are now up to 56% Kinetic. On the final combine you experment all you can in the base (middle row) and this will not only affect your base, but your special protection (kinetic/elect) will go up also. Then any left over points (most 10pts will have 0 or 1) goes into the top line for durability (which will also raise eletric). Remember the resources you use are very important. Hopefully this helps!

For tank wear (triple kinetic layers) Its good to just focus on the 80 kin and get as low ham as possible as most people who use it are for grinding pve

Dependant on your resources.. i normally run 3 Kin layers experiment on quality with 8 points (amazing suc) with the rest on Ham... this gives me 80% Kinetic 70% base armor with a reasonable HAM..
But obviously depends on your resources... play around with different quality levels to push that base up.. as if you do this.. the less you need to put into kin protection and then more into HAM.
Just a thought

All this looks ok...except....
...you take 4 x 14% for a chest piece, you are now up to 56% Kinetic...
If this is the case, how is it the gloves come out with the same resists? Only one segment there.
Remember, the layer adds to the base. so....
1 - Find out what your max base is without layers. ex. 56% base.
2 - Create 3 kinetic layers at 4base/4special. These will add up....56base + 4base + 4base +4base = 68base....68 +4special +4special +4 special = 80 kinetic. When you're layering with a resist that is already in the base, each % adds to it...starting with the unlayered base number.
The best way to learn this, is to make gloves and try different combos. See how the experiments effect it. Talk to an AS on your server as you're crafting them.
