Please help.
I just started Armorsmithing on a new toon this weekend and I have a rather noobish question about layers.
With the current resources I use, I hit 51% base unlayered compositeusing advanced segments.
I'd like to find outhow to makea double 80% special protection armor - which in my case isKin+Ene.
1) Which type layers should I use for the 3 possible layers?
2) What would be thetarget values for each of these layers?
When making a Kinetic suit, I can reach 80Kin/64 Base, so by slicing it I know I can reach 80+ Energy.
But with my current HAM costs, I'd like totrygetting a double 80%+encumberance sliced suit.
Thanks to all in advance and any feedback is appreciated.

2 energy with 4 base 7 or 8 energy effectiveness
1 kinetic with 2 base and 13 or 14 kinetic effectiveness
try this outand see
this gives me 80energy kinetic electric 67 base

not gonna happen with 51 base... highest you'd be able to get the base would be 62-64% which means one of your layered specials will be 3-4% short of 80 kin. (80-64-16%..... layers dont go that high right?)
I'd just stick with triple layer kin until you get the unlayeredbase up to 55% or so (depends on how well your layers/segments turn out)

Thank you Shaka and Mauro for your replies and suggestions.
I'm just running numbers atm, but it seems like I won't be hitting 80 Kin with 51 Base even withyour recipe.
Please forgive me if my calculations are incorrect, but I thinkShaka's base is something like 54-55 to begin with. As Mauro says, with 51 Base, it looks more like 77-78 even if I can make the layers mentioned. (which I can't atm)
I've been crunching out numbers in Excel but I guess there's no way I can really bet both special resists up to 80 with my current base. *shrugs*
I guess I'll stick totriple Kinetic for nowand see if I can get better resources.
Thanks again!

its all about the reasorces i beliec over oall quality and shock resistance helps in base effectiveness
also i am a 12 point armorsmith i currently make 80 kinetic energy electric 67 base unsliced 36k condition with experiments in encumberance

Just out of curiosity, do you use the same or similar recipe as Shaka mentioned above?
I've been playing around with more numbers and it seems like if I can get base up to 56, and useKin3/12, Ene3/12, Elec 4/4+rest in enc., itwouldpretty muchbring 3 resists up to 80, but lower HAM costs more.
I'm still new at this so I dunno if my math is correct, but I really would like to learn the tricks of the trade.

56+3+3+4=66, so you're special resists need to be 14% in order to hit 80%. with 56 base unlayered, you will need layers that are 4 base, 12 special to get what you're looking for. if you aren't a 12 pt smith, it's really tough to get triple 80 composite. try using double amazing layers and see if you can hit 4/12, but i'm not sure if that's possible with only 10 points.

Thanks Grendelwyf,
I don't think it's possible either. LOL
Anyway, armorsmithing to me is a very interesting profession and I'm having a lot of fun so far.
I don't think I've had this much fun experimenting since a year ago when I was a BE making pets.
